Playa Grande
Construction of the Aman hotel infrastructure is almost complete and the first Aman hotel mock-up pavilion should be completed in January 2014. The vertical Aman hotel and beach club construction will begin thereafter, with a targeted completion date in March 2015.

We have passed that stage of what if Aman sale does not happen. It is just a question of when. We should be able to conclude it [by march], definitely...We do not have any uncertainty...If, hypothetically speaking, there's a one in a million chance that Aman's sale does not happen, we have a couple of back-up pieces.

There is a lot of documentation that needs to be done but we are expecting a closure very soon.

It is just a question of when does it consummate and does it consummate this quarter or over to the next quarter.

Does anybody have information on the Aman Cavtat opening ? I believe it was scheduled to open in summer 2014 but I have not heard any updates. We are returning to Aman Sveti Stefan this summer and it would be great to combine it with a stay at the new property

I was hoping to do the same, but I hear Cavtat is delayed until very late summer or even end of the year.

If you click on "Cavtat Centar" the construction site is visible in the center of the bay. I am not sure how old is this panoramic photo.

Aman Gabon

There was an interview with Jean-Michel Gathy yesterday in the Swiss sunday newspaper Sonntagszeitung. He was primarily talking about the Chedi Andermatt which will officially open on Dec. 20 (and already gets lots of press coverage in Switzerland), but he also said that "we are working on 3 Aman Resorts in Gabon, which will put the country on the touristic map".

Interesting, as it's now not only confirmed by Gathy, but also he is only talking about 3, not 6 as previous rumors mentioned.

“The Amans are antihotel,” says Georg Rafael, the founder of the Rafael chain. “They are what you don’t do when planning a hotel.”

if not conservative, not sure what that means for construction status of others - several early 2015?

Amanbadu is located in northwestern Jordan on the fringes of the Dibeen nature reserve and close to the historical city of Jerash. The buildings forming the resort have been carefully placed within the existing forest of Aleppo pines. The design has been supported by an extensive arboreal effort to conserve the natural landscape.

The resort comprises 30 suites, 24 villas, and guest facilities including a dining room, a library, a meeting room, a pool care, a heated pool, and a destination spa. The architectural form, while contemporary, is inspired by the cubist forms of Jordanian buildings. The limited palette of materials and colours is derived from the region's landscapes and archaeological sites, making extensive use of local stone for exteriors and interiors.

The interiors are kept simple and homogenous in harmony with the calmness of the forest. Floor coverings and accessories have been designed in collaboration with local weavers to reflect the varied and rich indigenous craft.

The individual villas are arranged around a central courtyard and a 50 square meters outdoor heated pool Each comprises three hotel suite modules together with a living and dining room and a dedicated service building. The manner in which these spaces are combined varies to suit the topography, maintain privacy, and maximize views of the forest.

It's kind of official now.

Ian White, the ex GM of Hotel Bora Bora and Amanfayun is rejoined Aman. He will look after Amanbadu pre - opening project, I guess they should be opening before 2014 Q2.

What a shame that not only is this resort now gone from the GHM 'under development' area, but that the website noted above is also now defunct. So, I assume this is (yet another) GHM project that is dead. I had a feeling that the design was too unique to ever really get off the ground.

very strange indeed!
I saw Chedi Nusa Penida hosting a cocktail event at Grand Hyatt HK earlier this year around June.
I thought the design mockup was rather exciting and avant-garde!

Yes, I love the design. Which is why I am so disappointed that it seems to have disappeared. I thought they were selling residences. Maybe there was not enough interest and they decided to scrap the project?
