The Zecha Speaks!

- Currently 6 resorts under construction*
- Greece opening in September
- Brazil construction completed
- Plans for Chile, Argentina, Ecuador and Indonesian Banda Island
- A mentioning of Japan - not in quote, only in journalists text

"My policy now is to continue finding more exotic spots abroad. For example, we have just completed resort construction in Brazil, which is our first in South America. We will definitely spread to more spots in Chile, Argentina and Ecuador,” said Zecha, while adding he had another ongoing plan to build his sixth Indonesian Amanresorts on Banda island in Moluccas.

* my bet on the 6: Greece, Brazil, Vietnam, Portugal, Venice, Gabon. Any other thoughts...?

Signing Ceremony was in January 2012 (http://www.en.legabon.org/index.php?m=2&s=0&a=19) - so the opening could not be before 2014...

I agree with your first five "bets" but would substitute Lijiang for Gabon for the 6th under construction. Or I would assume that Greece is not still under construction and would keep Gabon in the 6.

Chile has to be Rapa Nui, Atacama, or Torres del Paine (with Aman Exclusive cruises to Antarctica.)

Ecuador will probably be Galapagos (cruise or villas?) and Mindo Cloud Forest. Hopefully NOT in Quito, that would be so boring.

I wonder why Aman would not venture into Peru? I guess Orient Express alrerady have a monopoly. But Lake Titicaca, Colca Canyon, or the Sacred Vallet would be interesting. But please, not a beach resort.

And please, where have Aman built in Myanmar? I think the journalist of that article is including all GHM hotels, and not just Aman. Would be good to see Aman in Bagan one day though.

Amanzoe is indeed open, albeit soft opened.

Amanoca is currently selling its villas, but the hotel side of the resort has yet to be constructed, apart from some public areas. The owners' website is now up and running and includes several films of the property - http://www.amanoca.com/

Lijiang, Vietnam, Portugal, Venice, Perth, Gabon. Recently the owner of Amanfayun and Lijiang also sighed another agreement with Aman in Suzhou, China.

Portugal and Tokyo

Gallivanter's is tweeting and writing about new Amanresorts:

- Tweeting about Mockup-Rooms of Aman Tokyo, which means that it could be nearer than we thought https://twitter.com/Gallivanters/sta...58571776303104

- Writing about a 2013 opening of Amanduna, Portugal - with probably more in Portugal to come afterwards (Gallivanter's Guide)

Both great news!

“Once the [Jussara palm] tree was identified as endangered we had to create a 1,100 sq metre [33x33m] sanctuary to protect it,” says Pinto, who is developing Amanoca with his brother, Derek. “This added eight expensive extra months to the entire development process.”

David Kaufman was a guest of Amanoca
article mentions a bunch of other hotel residences in brazil
