IF CO is in Terminal 1 by that time, there is a very nice Star lounge in Terminal 1.

I know that you cant believe everything that you read on wiki , but ,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Al...er_one_roof.29

In March 2008, some Star Alliance members started to move to Terminal 1 of London Heathrow Airport as part of a re-arrangement program. Star Alliance members Air New Zealand and United Airlines moved into Terminal 1 on June 10, 2008. Members Austrian Airlines, Croatia Airlines, Lufthansa, Swiss International Airlines, and TAP Portugal moved to Terminal 1 in June 2009. Asiana, BMI, LOT Polish Airlines, South African Airways and US Airways already operate from Terminal 1. All other members will remain at T3 (Except Continental and TAM Airlines who will remain in T4) until Heathrow East is completed, where all members will then move

I am under the impression that there simply is not room enough at T1 for CO to move . If this is correct then CO will remain at T4 until early 2014 ( provided of course that Heathrow East doesnt slip any further ) .

So I wonder what that would mean in terms of lounges accessible by CO travellers.

Told that CO will stay at ST lounge for a bit

I was surprised when I walked into the Holideck lounge yesterday and was told that we no longer used that lounge and was redirected to the new ST lounge. The CO rep that checked me in did not mention this and the lounge pass still give directions to the Holideck.

When I walked into the ST lounge I was very impressed and it still had that "new lounge smell" too! This lounge stacks up to the best of them (except for Virgin's at LHR, of course) and it will be nice not to have to rush through b'fast at the hotel anymore before heading to the airport.

I am a little miffed that I might have been stuck in that lousy Holideck lounge during my last one or two trips, without knowing that the ST lounge was open.

When the concierge came through the cabin doing his pre-flight session, I commented about the significant improvement and asked what would happen once CO moves to *A. He said that were quite pleaseed to recently ink a deal to keep access to the ST lounge while they are at T4, though the plan was to eventually move to another terminal.

Just paid my first visit to the new lounge (flying Y with my PE card) and it is very nice. However, there is one disturbing issue. The luggage hook is directly above the commode in the men's room toilets. Better hope the handle on that backpack is sturdy...

Interested to find out whether a *A Gold member flying Continental Economy will be allowed into the the T4 ST lounge. I hope so as I will be flying to New York in November.

sorry if this has been answered before. My daughter will be flying out of LHR next January in BF. CO will no longer be a part of Sky Team. What lounge will she have access to?

I don't think so. The lounge is definately not affiliated with *A and CO has no control over that part of the access policy.

I asked about this and was told by a Red Coat that there was an agreement to allow BF customers access to the lounge until CO moves terminals. I also asked at the lounge and they didn't have an answer.

My gut feeling is yes for BF, no for everything else.

YMMV

Sure they do. CO could agree to pay for the entrances, just like they will for BF passengers. I doubt they will as they generally do not do so where it isn't required, but they definitely have control over the situation.

I'm curious about this. If the passanger is *G via OnePass and flying CO, it would be CO's dime for the access. What if they were *G via United? Wouldn't it be up to United to manage the agreement?

In other words, is it the to carrier, or the FF program that negociates the acces deals?

Yes, although UA is unlikely to reach such an agreement. It is likely all Star Golds, even CO's own, will simply lose out on lounge access at LHR when flying CO except when ticketed in BusinessFirst.

Because there is no *A lounge in T4, CO must reach a separate third-party agreement with whichever lounge it chooses. The precedents are not good; at EDI, where the situation currently exists in reverse (there is no Skyteam lounge), CO reached a deal with the bmi Diamond Club lounge that only covers BusinessFirst passengers so Skyteam elites in economy have been out of luck departing EDI. I suspect the same will happen at LHR with Star Golds, which will put CO at a disadvantage to UA for elites flying economy out of LHR.

Would be great if this were not to be the case, or even better if CO could come across to T1 sooner than Heathrow East.

That's annoying. I chose to fly CO as I knew I would be *G by the time I flew and knew that CO would be in *A by then. What about using an Amex Platinum?

Any chance that as a *G I will be able to call up in advance and reserve a 'preferred' Economy class seat?

A US-issued AmEx PLT doesn't rate access to the SkyTeam lounge today so I doubt it would permit access once CO doesn't really have a stake in the lounge.

You should be able to get the preferred seats other than the exit row.

lounges

daughter and boyfriend travelling award business class seat with CO in Dec..lhr to ewr..do they get any lounge access if so which..I am flying with them but in economy..can they take me as a guest IF they have access...(not too worried about me..just she could do with the rest away from the madding crowds!!) on arrival in ewr we are connecting to economy to TPA will they be allowed any access in ewr lounges (she has disability and is in a wheelchair) so access would be useful... doing the return journey january..(ewr/lhr/ ncl)what would that situation be?? they are 19 yrs and twenty.. does that make a difference.. (I am obviously marginally older lol!!) we are connecting in lhr so was hoping there may be access,,, fingers crossed.. got some info on another section and just wanted to verify....thanks gwen

Access for BF passengers in LHR will exist, though exactly which lounge is unknown. If CO is still in T4 it will either be the SkyTeam lounge or the Holideck. My guess is that CO will not permit guests access but I'm not certain.

In EWR they'd be permitted to bring guests but they'll run into the issue of being underage. If you go in with them it should work out but that is a strange technicality/interpretation of the rule that would be interesting. Since they aren't permitted access as a minor they can't guest you in. But if you were ticketed in BF you could guest them in. Hopefully CO will use logic and permit the access.

On the return you should have the same situation in EWR.
