Nice that they have granted a new period for those expiring latest 31 Aug 2021. I, of course, expire 30 Sept 2021. I assume they will extend, but who knows... Haven't flown since 1 Feb 2020...

I hope you got to maintain some elite skiing status since then. I’m hearing about EBDs and EBGs finally returning to Åre after a long break, sometimes even with the night trains booked.

Has SAS Amex had any card spending promotions during this pandemic? Has SAS had any EB-earning promotions for flying them during this pandemic?

Not anything out of the ordinary. A friend in Germany has Amex Platinum and they have given their customers free spend of €250. SK and its card partners haven't done anything like that as far as I know.

No skiing this year. Trying to be responsible. Plus I would pull out my own teeth without anaesthesia before skiing in Åre. Too much money for a tiny system full of "entitled" people from Stockholm.

Speak of the SAS Amex devil, SAS emails got to me since my last message in this thread. The emails showed some very weak "promotion" for using SAS Amex cards. But it was nothing useful in terms of SAS status qualification.

I'm more typically that rare, helmet-less skier in Sweden. So even if I were to hit the slopes as part of a lousy excuse to status run in some Star Alliance program, I would probably come across as extraordinarily bizarre between skiing without a helmet, skiing far from home and then running around with a mask on my face while raiding the ICA at Are C. But since I'm neither flying to OSD, nor taking the train, nor driving to go skiing in Sweden this year, I didn't take out my ski helmet. If I were to have gone skiing in Sweden this season, I would probably be in need of body armor to protect myself from the wild ones stuck this year with skiing in Sweden -- wild ones who may be more eager and able than usual to stockpile Systembolaget purchases for use around the resorts.

SAS mailed me today stating that they will extend my status by another year. Current cut-off date is 2021-08-31. Anyone with a qualification year ending until then will have their status extended by a year. And it also counts for Lifetime Gold...

Thanks a lot for the info. My expires 31/9 so hopefully they will extend by at least another month. Will be difficult getting to Gold even if things start improving.

I hope this will be expanded to Feb 2022... I have so many tickets on hold that I can't book rn due to the uncertainty and chances are I won't fly to NYC, nor to Hong Kong and Singpaore this Sep/Oct nor to Japan next February. Makes me rather sad

I also got this email. It appears that I just became EBG lifetime member, as my current year was my last. There are a few conditions listed, so they protect themselves a bit, but I want to believe that I fulfill them. So now will have a lot of fun watching if EB survives covid!

I suspect that the conditions only are meant to prevent status extension if you have been given EBS/EBG by an EBG/EBD or if you have been given EBG/EBD due to buying SAS Travel Pass or something.

Isn't it the qualification period until 31 Aug?
I have
QUALIFYING PERIOD
01/09/2020 – 31/08/2021
but
MEMBERSHIP LEVEL EXPIRY DATE
30/11/2021
so, now I'm unsure which date counts really?

My status year ends in February and I checked if the extension had been applied yet. While the membership expiry date has been updated 05.2022, the lifetime gold counter has been reset to 0 which is mildly concerning. I suppose it will be updated again the end of may at the membership expiry date hopefully.

I wanted to check that as well, as my Eurobonus year also ended in Feb. All I managed so far is to conclude that the Andriod app actually don't show expiry of status, only the qualifying year as March 2021 to February 2022. So I need to log in to the website. Hello office task for the day...

I would not be surprised that the lifetime gold counter initially goes to zero, and someone manually needs to intervene. I'll give it a few days before I worry too much.

With the first extension I was was told by Gold support that the LTG (and expiry date) would not update until the expiry date was reached. I therefore also had some time where the LTG count went to zero. Ultimately it updated more than a month before the expiry date.
