Looks like they're still posting these coupons on the website.

http://freshandeasy.com/coupon.aspx

A bit off topic, but relevant....a few new Fresh and Easy locations are due to open in the LA area soon, or for those of us living East of downtown there are a few at least.

One location on Main street on the border of Alhambra/So Pasadena opens mid January 2009.

I also just noticed that the old Jurgensen's -> Mrs Gooch's -> Wild Oats -> Whole Foods -> closed completely (on the corner of California & Oak Knoll/Lake in Pasadena) has a sign posted that it will be come a Fresh & Easy. Nice location, but, parking logistics are terrible at this place and has always been as long as I can remember.

It appears the coupons are history.

No sign of them on the website.

And this just as a new Fresh and Easy opens not a block away from us.

Well they may not be available online, but they are available. I received one in the mail in a F&E flyer yesterday ($5 off of $20) & in today's circulars - you know, the ones that all the grocery stores stuff our mailbox with on Tuesday cuz the sales start on Wed also had a F&E flyer w/ this week's sales & also a $6 off of $30 coupon.

Cheers.

They are back. We got a 6 off 30 in the normal circulars and then we looked in the trash can (we live in a condo) and got about 7 $5 off 20 cupons. Not sure if we'll use them but we might need to make a trip over...

They're only back when they're online and can be printed at will IMO. Just like the good ol' days of a few weeks ago.

Flyers in SkiAdcock's snailmail box and trekwars2000's trash can don't do the rest of us a whole lot of good.

Well, unless your home is exempt from all the Tuesday grocery circulars that get puts in everyone's mailbox you can get one once/week. So yes they ARE available, even if not in the format you prefer. Also, if you go to the F&E site you can probably sign up to get them.

PS - If your new F&E does what mine did when it opened up, they'll give you a packet (1/coupon a week for a month or six weeks) when you go through the check-out line the first time.

Cheers.

As suggested previously.....go to the Grand Opening day at your local location. I went to the first location F&E ever opened in Glasell Park/Los Angeles. They give away free shopping bags, various coupons, and have Grand Opening bargains on certain products.

I would also suggest....Ask the associate who is stationed as the cashier assistant if they have any coupons for your next visit. I've had coupons handed to me just for asking.

I really love Fresh & Easy and I have only shopped at the Manhattan Beach location. I must have gone there 3 times over the Thanksgiving weekend. I sure wish there were more of 'em all across the country.

I used to love Trader Joe's the same way, but after doing price comparisons in the last two months, I found that very few things are still cheaper at Trader Joe's than at Kroger etc. They used to be a true low-cost shop, but I think they have raised their prices too much. An example - CLIF Kidz bars are .69 at TJ's and .49 at Whole Foods. PLUS, at Whole Foods you get a quantity discount if you buy a bunch. Another example - 5lb box of Clementines at Trader Joes was 6.99, but 4.99 across the street at a big chain grocer.

I've been shopping at TJ's for 25 years and I've never considered them a low cost seller.

What they started out as was a hippie-dippie, save-the-planet, organic and natural foods place.

They've moved somewhat away from the natural foods/organic focus but that's still a part of their identity. But where they and Fresh & Easy truly part company is on carrying nationally branded items.

80% of TJ's offerings are their own brand(s) or some very specialized and regional brands vs. maybe 40% for Fresh & Easy. F&E carries a lot of nationally branded items versus nearly zilch for TJ's.

Plus F&E, at least initially, has some very attractive pricing vs. the traditional super market chains. To break into the competitive SoCal grocery market they needed to have a pricing advantage and needed to float a gazillion 20-25% off coupons as they had been doing.

The coupons are becoming harder to find. Let's see how long the lower prices last.

Check with your local chain grocery store - the Fry's and Albertson's here both accept these coupons as well as other competitor's coupons. Really helps out!

Today was the Grand Opening of a location closer to where I live. They did indeed pass out booklets with four coupons good for each of the next four weeks ($5 off of $20 purchase) I'm not sure how long they will have these to give out at the store, but there are indeed coupons out there!!

Not to stray too much off topic, it was interesting to see shelves FULLY stocked and with quite a variety of products. I was thinking to myself "don't get used to it, within a month they'll only stock the items that sell". As an example a tray with TWO Teriyaki Hamburger patties was priced at about $5.00, quite a poor value in contrast to the Grill pack of 4 hamburger patties, 4 Italian sausage links, and 8 pc. of marinated chicken for $5.99.
