Just got to 250 points after 6 weeks of clicking on anything that didn't cost anything. Certainly not the fastest way to get points, but very painless, that is for sure.

I noticed a subtle change - at least to the offers I have been receiving. I used to get charity offers - donate $20 (or so) and get 1,000 bonus miles and 250 a month for up to six months (the amounts varied). I used to keep one of those running all the time - I give to various charities anyway so might as well get some miles - and some were a pretty good deal. Always had to fight with eMiles to get the miles, but I always did. I would not bite on most of them until I found one that was a good charity for a good number of miles. Now, for at least the last 6 months I haven't received any offers like that.
Is anyone still getting them? |
I've figured that any charity that is so desperate for donations that it resorts to e-Miles is probably a charity that has such high operating expenses relative to what is given to the cause that I do not want to donate. I've not actually looked at the filings for any of the charities to see what percentage goes to the cause, however. I just think of this kind of marketing as being a red flag.

One of those used to be the World Wildlife Fund. They used to have these "Earn X miles for your donation of Y for three months!" where the cost of the donation was about 2cpm if not less to earn the miles.

I still am getting charity offers, but I had not made any charity donations through e-miles until last month. During December, the e-miles awarded were doubled, and there were lots of offers. I have not received as many offers in January, but I assume this is somewhat cyclical, since people are more inclined to increase donations in December for tax benefits.

I received my monthly activity statement yesterday. It said there are surveys?? Has anyone ever actually seen where those are listed?

This is what mine looks like. I just don't see it... Maybe it isn't there for everyone?

They are either in Earn Miles Now under Peanut Labs, or the top box on the column to the left.

Still nothing. Can someone post a screen shot of how it looks for them?

Here's what I see:

However, I'll offer some words of caution about completing surveys on this website. I just sent this email message to E-Miles customer service:
"Dear e-miles staff: I write with a question about completing surveys on your website. When I visited the page <http://www.e-miles.com/pro.do?ft=EMIPPF74QV4NM53 >, I clicked on the link to a survey that required 10 minutes of my time located at <https://surveys.ipsosinteractive.com/surveys/25b6acb2-de68-11e2-a28f-0800200c9a66>. After completing the qualifying questions, I received a screen message that included in part, "Please fill out the following survey, which should take up to 40 minutes to complete.” I refuse to participate in deceptive, bait and switch tactics such as this. As the former chair of a research university Institutional Review Board, this is an unethical practice and I plan to report it to the professional associations for commercial survey research. Will these deceptive practices be stopped, or should I cancel my account? I look forward to your reply. " |
