they recently changed it to their being no expiration date on any of the certs. That reminds me i should check my older formerly expired ones, maybe i can re use some of them.
In a lot of states it's illegal to have an expiration date on a gift cert. I recently found a Rest.com certificate that had expired, but of course I didn't realize it until I wanted to use it. The proprieter graciously honored it. I was very happy with this as previously I"ve gone to use a cert only to find the restaurant closed...:( |

You know what? I bought some 80% off certs for a nice Japanese restaurant in Florida and I couldn't even give them away!!
With the restrictions and automatic 18% etc.......turns out to be not such a good deal at all! |

With the restrictions and automatic 18% etc.......turns out to be not such a good deal at all! How much tip would you have left? I doubt you would leave less than 15%, so how much more is 18%? My experience is that, when the coupons are accepted, they are usually a good deal. My problem is that too often I go to a restaurant with a coupon and find they are not accepted at all any more. |

As long as I've followed the restrictions, I haven't had any problems. It's true the restrictions can be tight, but the discounts are big too.

We used the $25 gift certificate ( paid $3 for it) with no problem. It worked so well that I bought several more certificates for 3 great restaurants in our area. Thank you again , Flyertalk. The information I get on these boards is fantastico.

I never understood those certificate. Can you go to a great restaurant and pay $6 for something that cost $50 and that's it? how can they all make money?
As for your example, if you order $50 of food, the tip is supposed to be 18%, so you wouldn't just pay $6.00. |
