On the spur of the moment, the family and I decided to go to one of our favorite places for dinner tonight. It dawned on me that I had a couple of coupons on file. So, I pulled one up on my Blackberry showed it to the waitress who copied the number. They honored it that way.

I was prepared to be told they had to have a printout. It was a nice surprise.

I don't know if all establishments will do the same. Just thought I'd share it with you. In case, you, like me, were under the assumption a hard copy was needed.

can anyone tell me how these vouchers works? - I buy one for $2 and go to any of their restaurants at anytime and get's $25 of the bill? or I need to select the restaurant before buying the voucher?

2 types of certs can be purchased at rest.com and the codes are good for either. I think the most common is the first type i explain below, but sometimes when I get the 90% off code, I'll buy some of the second type I explain

1. purchase a certificate for the restaurant itself. log in, select the restaurant and certificate you want, purchase it, print it out and head out for dinner. Be sure you meet the requirments listed on the cert (day of week, dinner, lunch, etc, etc)

2. purchase a "restaurant.com gift certificate". These are certs that reside in your account (no expiration date) for us on future purchases for the actual restaurant certificates. After you purchase them, to redeem them, you login, deterimine the cert number you want to use, select "redeem gift" and you now have a credit to use on actual restaurant certificates. Then, select you restaurant, print and head out for dinner.

Not sure if it is on the thread, or just common knowledge, but if you purchase through the AAdvantage mall site you will earn 18 miles per dollar spent. $100.00 can get you 1,800 AA miles and thousands of dollars in restaurant discounts for the next year. Funnily enough, installing the AAdvantage toolbar is what tipped me to that.
