Automall points problems . . .

On a slightly different problem - I've made purchses through the links on their website, notably, half.com's. One in february, one in March. The points haven't posted. I wrote auto mall and received this nice note:

Dear Mr. raincityrd,

Thank you for your inquiry to AutoMall Online. We first must be notified from the AutoMall Rewards affiliate before we can post your points to your account. AutoMall Online requires confirmation from most of our Reward affiliates before posting points in our consumer accounts. We appreciate your patience regarding this matter.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns. Thank you again and have a pleasant day.

Sincerely,
Megan Migliozzi

So, I e-mailed half.com, and they said . . .

Hi Raincityrd,

Thank you for writing to us concerning the rewards program service.

The service that you're referring to is a third party company that isn't affiliated with Half.com. Please go to the home page for that site for
further information and help concerning this service.

Robert, thank you for the opportunity to be of service and thank you for being a member of the Half.com community!

Okay, so have any of you folks had the same problem? And what do they mean - not affiliated? I wrote to automall again, no response yet . . .

I'm really not suprised at this. Given the long and well recorded history of Automall's failures, this only demonstrates that they likely haven't got a clue. Caveat emptor.

I got essentially the same reply after I questioned AutoMall about my having no points for the Times Magazine trial. I just cancelled the magazines. I just feel fortunate that my last 500 points did transfer to Hilton. Jean

I advised/warned on another thread not to make any purchases through Auto Mall online until they deliver the Hilton HHonor points they promised. Now besides worrying about those points, users can't get credit for purchases!

These new Auto Mall purchase points are worthless to begin with since they can't be transfered to Hilton anyway. Maybe we should start a conga line with the date this website dot bombs!

Jaybee:

I did the same thing you did. I subscribed to Time Magazine (through AutoMallOnline) on 2/25/02. Still haven't received my points. I've emailed Customer Service at Automallonline 4 times asking when the miles are going to be posted. Still haven't heard a response from them. Meanwhile, I just received my 2nd Time magazine. Since I hadn't heard from Automallonline, I hurried up and cancelled the subscription.

As someone stated on Flyertalk: "Automallonline is on my poo-poo list".

I just love that phrase!!

I also made a purchase from Half.com on 2/20. 400 points for 1 book seemed great. No big loss if they didn't come thru since I wanted the book and this was the only place I could possibly get points for the purchase. I e-mailed them after 2 weeks and got the same canned 1st response you did. I decided to wait 30 days since that seems to be a standard wait time. I once again e-mailed automall about 5 days ago and they have not responded.

I guess it is buyer beware. Good thing, I made purchases I needed anyway - well not needed. I am enjoying my special edition of Monty Python and the Holy Grail It would've been great to get HHonors points though . . . maybe an e-mail to HH will do something?

I got the same response from auto mall for half.com book purchase. No action/no points. Quite obvious it is buyer beware with auto mall. (Half.com is a reliable merchant with terrific deals on books. You can get a whopping 2% rebate with Ebates.)

No doubt. I buy most of my school books there. AND, I have been able to successfully sell some DVD's, and old text books. Anyone need a copy of the 2001 Immigration Statutes
