Greetings,
Has anyone recently redeemed MyPoints for UA miles and could tell me the redemption rate?

I'm pondering an easy bank promo where I could get 20,400 MyPoints so I asked them about the rate and they promptly directed me to a 3rd party to upload an ID photo.

Didn't realize that was such a serious inquiry.

Cheers.

Jon

From the redemption page: 3200 pts = 1000 miles, 6900 pts = 2500 miles, 13,800 pts = 5000 miles.

Ive done three such redemptions recently. Know that these miles dont post immediately. Usually takes 2 weeks to post. They also batch if you do more than one redemption.

I honestly don't think it's worth using this site anymore, but I'm almost at another redemption.
I just used some points for a $50 Paypal gift card. It was too hard to keep trying for the Delta gift card I wanted. I still have about 4500 points.

For PayPal gift cards, can those be turned into cash?

That is quite expensive considering 7900 pts = $50 WalMart or CVS GCs. With the huge devaluations UA has done in the past 2 years, in particularly since last March, UA miles are now competing with Delta for the lowest value.

The cash goes into your PayPal account; no gift card issued. You can then transfer the money to your bank account or use it for online purchases.

The UA devaluation happened more than 5 years ago, IIRC. I am fine with the price. It is still a good redemption given the relative value of UA miles.

You do not know the 3 devaluations in past 18 months? Those are HUGE devaluations. Comparatively those happened 5 years ago are NOTHING. There were at least 6 to 8 devaluations since the 5 years ago one, FYI.

Are you referring to a MyPoints devaluation? Or a United devaluation? If UA, then ofc not. I fly AA, which is like flying Frontier, but with fewer fees. 😹

UA devaluations. That is why I said the cost to redeem UA miles is way too high when UA miles are worth only 1/2 or less comparing just 18 months ago.

Essentially what you paid for with the same amount of MyPoints, in exchange for goods that are 50% less in value - that is my point. No pun intended.

Ahh, thats for a different forum. I was only talking about MyPoints devaluations. What happens on the UA side is unfortunate, but Im still able to find value if I need a last minute TCON or an international redemption. YMMV.

Yeah, different travel needs. 90% of my redemption is int'l business class.

UA program is literally out of the game right now. It now becomes only useful for shorthaul intra EU on occasions, since Star Alliance has many EU members, far outnumbered the other 2 alliances.

Im getting an error message about not matching an account if I try to redeem for UA. IIRC its something to do with Uniteds side putting a zip code +4 in the account and the MyPoints form not liking that.

Will either fix it later or start redeeming for Starbucks instead

I'd contact MyPoints CS on this. The error is on their side. Also, I've noticed it is starting to take longer and longer for MyPoints to process these transfers. It was instant at one point several years back. YMMV.
