It wasn't just that but the b1g1 free night change and also their system ....ed up an overseas vacation that I took. They had an issue with their servers and they "accidentally" canceled my hotel booking. Coincidentally I booked the night using points when they had the b1g1 night.
They told me there was nothing they could do and I had to pay if I wanted to stay. It really ruined my vacation. I was really on the fence about canceling but this may make me cancel the card if I dont get the night.

I sent a secure message to US Bank through their website letting them know that I was aware of the free night e-cert and complaining that I, as a 2 year cardholder, did not get one. This is the response that I received (so far):
"Thank you for contacting U.S. Bancorp Service Center, Inc. via our Website.
We have referred your inquiry to the Office of the President to ensure that we answer your concerns appropriately. An Office of the President Specialist will send a response in writing within fifteen calendar days of the date of your email correspondence.
Please contact us again if we can be of further assistance. Have a nice day."
I thought that it was pretty funny that this has to be escalated to the Office of the President.

For those of you that received the free certificate and instructions, did you also receive a separate E-mail from Club Carlson indicating your free night was waiting (except this one referenced using the points in your account to book the "free night")?
Just trying to figure out if the phantom free night email went to everyone or just us "unloyal" folk.

I also sent them an email after being a card member for 3 years, but didn't get the free night. However, my inquiry will not be sent to the office of the president, but not only once but twice they appreciated my recent message and thought I was confused.
"Thank you for taking the time to write.
We appreciate your recent message.
We appreciate your recent message and apologize for any confusion. This
E-Cert was sent to a select group of Club Carlson members, and is not

No letter for my business card, or my wife's personal card. I've got 16 nights this year but not spent much, she's got maybe 10 nights and spent maybe $7,000. Neither of us complained.
Lesson: complain more.

Note: the URL I highlighted in red is actually a hyperlink that pre-populates my cert and promo code on the reservation site for me.

It seems the only ones that are receiving this are the ones that complained few months back about the b1g1 change and got some points back then. I have 2 cards. 1 card I complained before change and got 2500pts a letter I'll get 7500pts and now the free night. Other card I didn't complain and got zilch.
So this is definitely targeted towards the complainers. This also means ill-will towards USB and CC.
I hope that they gift everyone else 1nt.

I think that's just a spam that goes out periodically to everyone with some points in their account. Unrelated to the actual free night.

My wife and I own club carlson visa card, but I haven't got any free e-certificate for 1 night as you guys mention. Should I call them? or should I wait some more time for the certificate to appear in my account?

I did not complain by phone when the devaluation happened but by secure messages and received 2500 points.
I did not receive the E-cert and reached out via phone, secure message, twitter and Facebook to USBank. Twitter and Facebook goes back to the same team which were very responsive (though they have no power of course).
I also recived the response that the query was sent to the President Desk.
Just now, I've received a phone call from a customer care representative who was apologetic and offered either to close the account and refund the annual fee (paid many months ago) or to give me the E-cert. You can guess which one I've chosen. They say the E-cert will be posted within 6-8 weeks. We shall see.
