And if they really refuse a QR to QR bag check through you can ask at the DOH transfer desk if the staff can arrange for your bag to be retagged.

If AKL don't check you in, when you get to DOH head to the transit desks in the transfer security area. They can issue your BP and you can ask them there if they can retag your bag (you will need the bag receipt given to you at AKL). The handling system will know where it is as it gets scanned multiple times as it passes through the system. Assuming they say yes, someone will pick it up (possibly even from the belt as that may be the easiest place), change the tag and send it on its way. Be sure to ask them if it will be travelling under the same bag receipt number or if you need a new one, in case of any problems later.

This doesn't work if the time between flights is short, say 90 mins, but 8 hours is plenty.

I have also been able to ask them to retag a bag in AS before but that was when a rolling delay began to create problems for going landside during a change at my next airport. But you can certainly ask at the service desk in the lounge to check all is well with the redirection a few hours later to put your mind at rest.

Transit through Doha on short date passport

Through ticket Fra-Doh-Adl in January, all on same day. Return in late February. Aussie visa on UK passport which expires late March 2024.
Assume as not leaving transit area there will be no issues with passport expiry date for Qatar?
I wouldnt want to be refused boarding in FRA!
Advice and thoughts please. Thx

Probably not as you are not entering Qatar (others may know better), but have you checked whether they will let you in to Germany (if not there already) to catch the flight from FRA using a passport with that expiry? Or back in again on the return?

King Canute, youve just saved my bacon! I completely forgot about the German border requirements. So new passport applied for in last hour. Thx so much for your comments and advice. A load of embarrassment and hassle avoided due to your reply. Go well

QR to AA Separate Tickets 4+ hour layover

This will be a first for me...
Landing Doha on Qatar, early am
Depart Doha on AA, 9am to PHL
4+ hour layover
No checked bags

In the past, getting a BP on separate ticket to USA with OLCI has not worked.

Assuming I cannot do OLCI, any transit desk for AA departures open at 4-5am?
If I check a bag through to USA, likelihood QR gives me an AA bp?

This is new to me. And will be new to AA with the route changing from DOH-JFK to DOH-PHL in a few days.

FYI I had no issue with interlining baggage on separate PNRs (2x QR reward flights purchased via BA.COM) this morning at Auckland...

Most of the time even third party ground handlers can support. If there is a station manager they can help too.

Good to hear. I didn't mean to imply it 100% happens. However flying from AKL on many carriers multiple times a year (including QR multiple times), AKL agents have a very high percentage of saying no at 1st. Sometimes a simple, yes it can, is all that is needed. Other times i have to demand a station manager.

Out of 20 trips from AKL so far this year, twice have I had no pushback.

Any word on lounge access when connecting on separate tickets with about a 14 hour layover? Arriving late on the 18th and departing early on the 19th. Arriving QR F and departing AY Y

Not completely relevant, but I was flying LCA-AMM on RJ (ticket 1, paid) connecting to AMM-DOH-DPS on QR (ticket 2, award through AA) with overnight connection in AMM, but less than 24 hours.

RJ agents in LCA was not only able to check my bags all the way to DPS, but also issued me QR boarding passes after verifying entry requirements for DPS. They mentioned it was done through OW system.

Any problems with QR protecting pax and checking bags on two separate QR J award tickets issued by AS?
SEA-DOH arriving 5pm
DOH-MEL departing 7:40pm

AS IT is not smart enough to multi-city two separate awards.

QR will check your bags through but your connection will not be protected on separate tickets. You would be relying on goodwill by QR and your own silver tongue in the event of a misconnect.
