adding DOH stopover when flying MEL-ORD
Hello Qatar experts
I cannot figure out how to add a 4 day , and a 1 day stopover in Doha to visit friends as I travel Melbourne to Chicago , the long way
So far I can fly one way business for about $7000, if I make it return it is $9000 so I will fly it return as well
I plan to credit my Qantas FFP ( random line )
Currently I have checked departure on QR0905 September 5 and ongoing QR0725, I would like to board QR0725 on September 9th , so adding a stopover
On the return
QR0726 October 3 and ongoing QR0904 , I would like to board QR0904 October 5th
If I book it as a multi city i get an error seats and flight are not available but they are there when I look individually
Any guidance would be helpful

Sorry for the newbie question: For next month I have booked QR SOF-DOH-HKT in Eco (with CNX-DOH-SOF in the same booking). I'd like to try and cash-upgrade into C. Best way to do this would be at check-in (or even at the gate) in Sofia on the day of the flight, correct? Is it also possible to upgrade only individual legs, e.g. only DOH-HKT? What would be a realistic price? Probably not worth trying to haggle on the spot, or should I?

once I got in touch with the correct Qatar folks it was the cheapest to book 2 round trip tickets Mel-doh return and doh -ord return
they were helpful once you get a real person to talk to

Route: YYZ (via AA) to PHL to DOH to CMB
Flights: RJ145 (don’t care much) + A359 both routes (love this plane)
Dates: August 15 landing on August 17 (2hr layover in Doh - longest layover)
Economy classes: O, T, T
Preparation: should I keep an eye out for seat availability on EF and hope for an email to come
through? Or should I call CS about 2 weeks out and ask them for a cash offer (if there is a possibility of one?)
what would be be the best plan of action? I’ll be flying for about 29hrs and would love to get an upgrade plus I’ve been dreaming to try the Qsuites
