I could be wrong but first A380 service appears to be 3 July DOH-CDG and return operating QR39 and QR40.

Flight 2 Thursday, July 10, 2014

Departure: 08:10 Doha, Qatar - Doha International, terminal 1
Arrival: 14:10 Paris, France - Charles De Gaulle, terminal 1

Airline: Qatar Airways QR039
Duration: 7:00
Aircraft: Airbus Industrie A380-800
According to expertflyer.com QR039 starts operating as an A388 service on the DOH-CDG route from 3 July 2014. With a departure time just 15 minutes after QR003 (also an A388) to LHR it's going to be a busy time of the morning.

I share your excitment. I've got two forthcoming QR003 A388 reservations: one next month in F and one in July in J.

That's a fair comment - however I was sufficiently motivated to try out QR's A388 F cabin that I switched a QR009 (A346) reservation to QR003 (A388), departing six hours later.

That is awesome! I made a booking two weeks ago on both QR39 and QR37 so now I'll cancel QR37. I'm really excited too!

Have a friend on DOH-LHR in paid D class who wants to upgrade to F .... Z0 but F8. Any ideas if upgrades at the airport are possible?

QR makes it extremely hard if not impossible for people to upgrade at the airport, even if your willing to pay. I wouldnt bet on it.

I don't know about airport upgrades, but for a DOH-LHR QR flight in late June I had a business class booking on an early morning A346. I was easily able to change it on-line, without penalty, to a first class booking on the A388 (QR003) by simply paying the fare difference.

Wow, this article details a new set of dates which I have seen for the first time.
If true, it's going to cause some weeping, wailing and wrist slitting amonst friends on this board.
Those that can shuffle dates, better start thinking about it.

I'm flying LHR-DOH on 11 July on the A380 - economy only I've been allocated a seat on the upper deck (28J) buy as someone on this thread has stated, seat 68D appears to have extra legroom.

Not sure whether to go for 68D or enjoy the nicer layout upstairs... thoughts?

Is 68D the crew rest exit seat? If so, its not just a bit of extra legroom. There is no seat in front of you.

Hi QatarA340,

Not sure if you have any insight into this but do you (or anyone) know when QR will sort out their CDG-DOH schedules so that QR40 reappears? We are travelling on 3 August and for an infinitely better connection want to book onto QR40 instead of our current QR42 but to no avail. QR40 appears in the GDS (operated by the A388) as closed but surely they must be getting an idea when and if their services will start. We are still confirmed DOH-CDG on 10 July on the A380 but don't have any expectations that this will eventuate but I would have thought that another 3 weeks later it should be looking good. The annoying thing is that QR39 appears as the outbound on 3 Aug

Bad News - A380 delayed until August

It looks like the A380 is delayed yet again:

http://airlineroute.net/2014/06/16/qr-380-aug14/

Doha – London Heathrow: 1 August (at the earliest)
Doha – Paris CDG: 15 August (at the earliest)

I am a great fan of QR, but this is a complete and utter f**k-up!

I have two QR003 DOH-LHR reservations - 26 June (in F) and 23 July (in J) - both particularly selected to sample QR's A388. Now both flights have been replaced with A346s .

Still, I guess I can't complain too much. I'm buying [ex-CAI] CAI-DOH-LHR-DOH-CAI J returns at GBP950 . The [ex-DOH] DOH-LHR-DOH J return (identical flights) is currently showing at GBP4100!
