  • MEL/SYD-AKL-BNE. More expensive, but a more "exciting" way to make it, and if it's any consolation points and SCs come with the package. 2 FL runs there (although is AKL FL anything to write home about???) Anyone have a time frames around that effort? (Does it require an overnight in AKL? I'm hypothesising that it will - that's 7 hours of flying in that, notwithstanding time zone changes. Anyone considered LAN?) Requires passport - for real.

Gee...I can see it now... (mentally delete the "Originally" from the box below, pretend this is a future post...)

AKL F lounge is nothing to get excited over - just less crowded than the business lounge. However, you do get SYD/MEL F lounge visit (assuming status or guest or flying LA in F).

Schedules are as follows

AKLBNE 21FEB09 QF116 0725 0800
AKLBNE 21FEB09 QF126 1430 1505 (op by Jetconnect)
BNEAKL 22FEB09 QF115 0855 1510
BNEAKL 22FEB09 QF125 1610 2225 (op by Jetconnect)

connecting flights ex-SYD

SYDAKL 20FEB09 QF or LA any flight with overnight stop in AKL
SYDAKL 21FEB09 QF141 0735 1235
AKLSYD 22FEB09 QF044 1830 1955
AKLSYD 23FEB09 QF or LA any flight with overnight stop in AKL

connecting flights ex-MEL

MELAKL 20FEB09 QF025 1240 1800 with overnight stop in AKL
MELAKL 20FEB09 QF133 1935 0100+1 with overnight stop in AKL
AKLMEL 22FEB09 QF134 1625 1820

With the QF133 (MEL) / QF044 (SYD) options you get evening dinner (if one has access to the F/L).

Overnight at AKL and take the early QF116 to BNE.

Me, I'm flying with To Market To Market (AKA SWMBO) and it's direct MEL-BNE for us.

If there only a few thinking of flying into OOL, then I would be happy to play Taxi to BNE.

I can fit a couple in my car (given SWMBO will be the return leg driver).

Since it seems I am the only one flying to OOL so far I would be happy to share this ride! ^

I'd say I'll take the second spot free in the car, but right now I'm deciding between the "high roller" or "cheaper" option FL run....

Gold & QF-WP.

I will be in for ideas on flights that travel via an FL.

Event confirmed with QC BNE

Team,
I've spoken to the manager of the QF Club in BNE and we are "welcome" on Saturday 21 February. It was agreed that the J lounge wouldn't be available for such a (likely) large gathering.
Where's that QF WP guy to do all this organising?

(Sounds of stomping off in feigned indignation)

Great to hear; cheers willyroo. Hopefully:
  1. There will be air conditioning....
  2. There will be enough beer/wine (yeah, probably can count on that one)

Fitting us all in the J lounge is likely to not only generate ire but also is basically asking to create a mini SYD T3 QP on a Friday evening at the end of the financial year.

mini-QF WP / QF CL: He's hiding here, Uncle willyroo!
QF WP: [sotto voce] Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

LOL - just kidding. Let's just say he's MIA at the moment (and no not the airport MIA).

JQ19 has been moved from 21/2 to 22/2. So not possible to get F Lounge access this way. Are there any other domestic flights to anywhere leaving the international terminals of SYD or MEL that day?

EDIT: Found QF81 SYD-ADL but this doesn't connect to arrive in BNE in time for the AGM.
