Easiest way not to let Qantas Miles expire?
Hi all,
My 50k miles are set to expire July 31st... What's the easiest way to make sure they don't, considering I have no possibility of flying Qantas before then? If I understand correctly, the points have to post before that date, so that excludes a few options... Thanks! |
You're in Paris? Do a quick flight on a European oneworld member and credit to QF.
|
I should have been more specific: I can't credit any flight at all in this period of time.
I'm looking for alternative solutions, like earning miles for purchase, etc... Just afraid it wont post in time... |
If you were in Aus, it would be easy. Just get an EDR card and spend $31 at woolworths...
Try http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/partners/car or http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/partners/toolbar |
Spending points will also extend their expiry date by 18 months.
Simply order a new membership card at a cost of 1,000 points and you'll be fine for another 18 months. |

How long does it take for a hotel stay to appear? I'm staying in the Hilton Warsaw on 27 September 2014 (Saturday night, unfortunately) and my points expire 30 September 2014. If I pick Points and Miles for my Hilton earning option, with QF set as my preferred program, will the miles post in time to prevent expiration?

Points can take up to eight weeks after your stay to be credited to your account.
I guess I'll keep looking for a way to spend my 13k points now then. |
Can someone confirm that transferring Marriott points or Amex MR points to my account will reset the expiry date? (I want to be sure as it certainly doesn’t work with Flying Blue!)
|
Install the Qantas Wellbeing app and link it to your account.
You can use any phone (iOS, Android) that can track the steps count, no need to wearable activity tracker. With any goal completed (e.g. daily steps or sleep time) it will post the points weekly, That should be enough to reset the Qantas account activity. |

Darn it. I think my QR booking class (N) is not eligible for Qantas credit. Now what? I don't live in Australia.
This thread, has links to other "keep QF alive" threads ---> https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qant...0k-points.html

I've search through some other threads and didn't see an answer.
Does anyone know whether a transfer from Citi thank you points into QFF will extend my expiring points? Alternatively, can anyone point me to a link for donating points? I've done this in the past but can't seem to locate the link anymore. Thanks! Au residents can join Hoyts Reward program (movies), link QF account and get 100 QF points. The survey was a good idea, but no longer available.

I suspect it's not available to foreigners. I just did a search on my iPhone and the only things I'm getting for Qantas are:
https://apps.apple.com/au/app/qantas...g/id1081741211 If link doesn't work for you, they might be geoblocking it to Australia only? |
If you currently have no way to earn a single point over the coming 7 months I'd question the urge to retain them and would be looking to spend. Chances are that by the time you finally do get to earn/spend, redemption rates will have deteriorated again (and maybe again ...)

Post 14 (margarita girl) is from yesterday. Thread had no posts from Aug 2014 to Jan 2020 (post 14) [A good reason why old threads should not be bounced] |

From the sounds of it, transferring points in from Amex or Marriott should do the trick. Sorry about resurrecting an old thread. I’m not a regular in the Qantas forum. I searched for threads with expire, expiry and expiration in the thread title and everything I found was old. Guess I could have started (another) new thread. |

Spend on ebay
Buy something on eBay through the Qantas portal
Maybe a cable for a Dollar |
Go to secureparking.com.au and book a cheap carpark. That'll cost you max $7 if you choose the right one.

Important: From 1/2/20, Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Business Rewards Members will no longer be able to earn Qantas Points through Secure Parking services. All Qantas Point offers prior to this date will be honoured as per normal conditions. |
More ideas?

Link to the Charity option at the QFF Rewards Store
The fifth link in Post #6 above contains an oblique reference to this link:
https://www.qantasstore.com.au/c/Charity/11 It is reached by going to the QFF Rewards Store. At the red Shop Rewards Store button, the word "Charity" appears among 11 ways to spend points. |
That was easy.
I made a donation of 2900 QF points to give AUD 25 to the Australian Red Cross.

Does anyone have any recent experience of using the route mentioned in this thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qant...s-rebirth.html
The QF website has a live page mentioning this route, but now using Quandoo: https://www.qantas.com/au/en/book-a-...staurants.html I've made (and used) a number of reservations this year, in mid-January and the first half of February, but haven't been awarded any QF points. Quandoo hasn't awarded its own loyalty points either, which had made me think that the points were going to QF. But I'm now wondering whether they have got lost and are worth chasing, or whether this is actually no longer a live promotion. |

I have points expiring at the end of July. Are point donations deducted immediately? If so, it seems like donating 2900 points is the best way to keep the rest of my points active. I made an ebay purchase 6 weeks ago but the points have not yet been credited.
|
Have you downloaded the QANTAS wellbeing app? there should be some pretty quick points posted from that
|
You could redeem points now for an award flight on a far-off date. If I understand the current concession correctly, if in October you find that you can't use that ticket after all, you can cancel it and have the points redeposted then, without penalty.

I just saw this in the the conditions when I was about to make a booking: "Requests to cancel a Classic Flight Reward ticket (where permitted) and re-credit points may be submitted prior to the commencement of the first flight in your booking and will incur a Cancellation Refund Fee in points. Only points that would not have expired will be re-credited." So I guess this would not work as expected.
