Looks like for the moment we're good:

Nothing new about the visa, at least from what I've seen.

Data points on CGK transfers / I did AUH-CMB-CGK-KUL last time, this time I'm travelling in the opposite direction
I'm flying from KUL to CGK on Malaysia Airlines. I've checked in in advance and printed out my BP.
1. at KUL, the Malaysian agent told me that I can connect my luggage even on a separate booking, but I only did hand carry because I had to go back to SG in one day.
2. after landing at CGK, I showed my printed BP to the security agent near the transfer desk and explained the situation. He said he would call a staff member to help me,
3. an hour and a half later, an agent showed up to pick me up, and they escorted me through security.
I'm currently waiting in the lounge and my flight today is going to be delayed another 2 hours.. lol

CGK transfers are crappy as they need to be escorted. It's best if the airline email the station to give beforehand a headsup for the transfer, that way an agent will show up to bring you through security. That would avoid the unnecessary wait.

Yeah it was a bit problematic... / In the other direction they waited because it was pre-formed, but I didn't have time to do that this time.

Odd. When I've been on separate tickets several times this year, there's always been an agent from the other airline (MH, QR, QF) waiting for me at the gate of my arriving OW flight. It's never been more than a 10 min wait for an immigration officer to come and give the ok to go through transfer security. I've not had to notify the other airline either. Perhaps it's because the airline that I'm arriving on issued all the boarding passes and checked my bag through to the final destination (even on separate tickets)?

Yesterday and today UL has been experiencing massive delays and the cause of this is due to delays in the Middle East. They wait for connecting passengers, so if there is a delay on the connecting leg, the impact is automatically reflected on the CMB departure.
I think it's unwise to create separate unprotected bookings in close term based on recent trends...

About to book my first one of these I think. Two separate bookings LHR-AUH return and the AUH-CMB-CGK return. Can I just check my understanding is correct please:
LHR-AUH 22.25-08.30+1 (Fly out Thursday night arriving Friday morning)
Day in AUH. No need to apply for visa if on UK passport. (any recommendations for a day rate hotel?)
AUH-CMB-CGK 23.00-13.20+1 (depart Friday evening arriving Saturday lunchtime)
Night in CGK hotel. Can apply for visa in advance or Electronic Visa on Arrival. (any recommendations for a decent hotel for just the 1 night?)
CGK-CMB-AUH 14.25-22.00 (depart Sunday lunchtime arriving Sunday evening)
Night in AUH hotel. No need for visa. (again any hotel recommendations)
AUH-LHR 10.10-15.20 (depart Monday morning arriving Monday afternoon)
Is that understanding right? Not too risky? Any easier/cheaper ways to get 500TPs over a single weekend originating from the UK?! Thanks all

As for the Jakarta night, make your choice based on the loyalty programme you have, there are plenty of hotels in Jakarta and if there are no major delays you should be able to enjoy it.
Ironically they will wait for connecting customers unless the flight is cancelled, so your proposed itinerary shouldn't be a problem / and if it is cancelled, you can expect a better schedule and ORC with Qatar or another carrier.

Thats the Rose Hall. New to Hilton I understand. Looks smart and only £70 for a 9am-6pm day rate. The Conrad also offered a day rate but was a lot more than their times were 10am-4pm.
Im actually doing a double header to CGK. First time I’m at the Doubletree for 2 nights. 2nd time at the Garden Inn for 1 night. As you may have guessed, I’m a Hilton man.

Has anyone flown the DXB-CMB sector lately?
How full was business class?
I fly out May 5th.
EF does show availability, wondering how low I should bid for J or ask during check-in, I know a bit OT, apologies

Visa on arrival is pretty straightforward but there were a couple of flights landed before us. Took about 30 mins

And to answer your question, given it’s UL, other people will be looking and going do I bid or not ??
and do you risk an aircraft change ?
The flight I recently took didn’t change the J seats allocated from 10 days before if that is any indication and given Y was full I would have expected some folks to bid - maybe UL blocks that when a cabin reaches a set %
