Should I need to kept shoes on?

Hi all,

Can I have a quick questionable for you that I would like to kept the shoes on? Where I am flying out of PHX-ATL-JFK on Thursday night? So what about JFK will they let me kept shoes on at DL terminal 2/3? I knows TSA is already brought new shoes device. So I'm sure if TSA wil able kept the shoes on where I am returns back home for JFK-PHX around 5pm. So however, if you have any more questions for my concerns. I knows TSA is doing their job, right? Thanks all.

If you are wearing flip flops / sandals with your toes & knees expose to the air, most of the TSA won't ask you to take off your shoes...I seen that in JFK, SFO, & LAX...

They are all going to ask you to take your shoes off. If its really that serious get some disposable shoe covers and wear them over your socks.

What if you wear shorts with your knees exposed?

Interesting -- I have never seen them allow any kind of footware through (on the foot) unless it's for medical reasons.

All one need to do is say that they do not wish to remove their shoes. We are not going to wrestle you for them. Dont wish to take them off, then dont! A bit of additional screening is all you will get, and that never really hurts anyone. It happens occasionally at my airport, and not just for medical reasons. Some people just dont like taking their shoes off in public, but the TSA has a procedure in place for those folks as well and they can still board an airplane.

You're going to have to ask yourself whether you're intent on winning the battle or the war.

Chances are, you likely know the answer to your question already.

My advice: Take off your shoes. The secret to getting another SIDA badge is to NOT be a problem at the checkpoints. Go with the flow on this one.

fwiw, you could tell the screener you have diabetes with the best part of saying that is they can't ask you anything about it-period and end of story (but of course that is not being honest)

now, is there any legitimate reason that you need (n.b. need) to keep your shoes on (i.e. like me and my orthopedic shoes)? the reason i ask is back in february, i got to experience a new shoe/cast screening machine at jfk (mine was in the ua terminal). our very own LoganTSO provided me with a link ^ and you can see how i described what i did during the process. it does take a bit longer than the "shoe swab" but it is still better than having to take off my shoes.

so with all of that, you could always ask nicely if the checkpoint your are at has the "cast scope" machine

You sure about this?

At one time the "shoe rule" was based on the sole. Different airports handled everything differently.

After the "all shoes off" came out, I tried a couple of times and was more or less strong-armed into removing them if I wanted to clear. Was told they come off or you don't come through.

So now you say procedures actually exist for pax who do not want to remove shoes?

Right. I will take off the shoes. So I will try to see TSA manager Jack will expect to be there on Thursday night. I would likely to given him apologizes for my behaviors at security checkpoint by last year. So I will be more respectabilities with TSA. So I didn't have anything to be rude with TSO screeners but, I didn't assaulted with her. Where she is standing at metal detector. I was physically pushes with her. So I will trusted all of TSA at PHX. I will given Jack to apologizes for my behaviors at security during daytrip for PHX-JFK-PHX. I knows TSA is doing their job, am I correct? I will listening with TSA to ask me take off the shoes where I am not working, am I correct? I will try write a letter for apologizes with TSA manager at PHX during early morning before I left for JFK around 6:40am. So I will flying by redeye flight for PHX-ATL-JFK. So I didn't meant that I was arguably with her. I told her where I am employment at Sky Harbor. So however, I will try to given Jack to have another chance that I will returns back to work at Sky Harbor. I will not be tolerable anymore personal life in Arizona. So I will take advantage where I will have to be more responsibility life. This is matter for under any of the circumstance from Sky Harbor.

Sorry, you're wrong about this. One cannot decline to remove one's shoes merely because they wish to not get their tootsies dirty. They can choose to wear socks or disposable foot covers but the shoes have to come off prior to the WTMD. (Excluding the medical exception, of course.) You are right about not wrestling people for them though.
