Pretty much, if its dangerous you call a LEO. There is always supposed to be a LEO with them so I'm really not sure what the issue is. Then again people are a lot more volatile on the streets than the airport. A guy shot 2 cops after they caught him jumping the turnstile imagine if a cop and those TSOs approached him at random.

If they have the statutory authority then it looks like it would be just another administrative search. I wonder what the limitations are on the search.

I am wondered why TSA will be leaving from JFK due to financial costly. So I think it would be too much time TSA is wasting the taxpayers. So I think it would be replacement back to non-federalization. I think NYPD will have training to be improvable better aviation security and NYPD is taking more responsibilities for passengers screening at checkpoint.

Will the TSOs be partnered with LEOs? What law gives cops the authority to order you to submit to a search by some random federal employee?

"The Patrolmen's Benevolent Association is blasting the plan, saying despite the city's financial crisis the city needs to hire more cops. According to the PBA, the city has 4,000 fewer cops on the street than it did in 2001."
No, idiot. This means that the subway bag harassment needs to be terminated. It's a stupid program that is a clear infringement on civil liberties and the Fourth Amendment.

At my home station there was a table with 3 NYPD set up two evenings (6PM ish)in a row last week. They were not checking anyone's bags and just standing around.
My station for work is Rockefeller Center and about once every two months there is the same set-up. Have never seen a bag checked once. Including mine- which is a medium size totebag.
A total waste of time and resources.

Heck, even if there is only one entrance (and you happen to be a suicide bomber who wants to succeed, not saying you are doober, of course), just walk 8-10 blocks over to the next stop with no bag checks and get on there.
Just like the TSA, a complete waste of money and resources for feel-good security theater.
