At my home station there was a table with 3 NYPD set up two evenings (6PM ish)in a row last week. They were not checking anyone's bags and just standing around.
My station for work is Rockefeller Center and about once every two months there is the same set-up. Have never seen a bag checked once. Including mine- which is a medium size totebag.
A total waste of time and resources.
What used to amuse me the most, when I lived in BOS & rode the T every day, was that when the T police would do something like this, they never started much before 8am (& long after I was in my office). I guarantee you somewhere there is a tewwowist who is an early morning person
