A commemorative brick (quite real) which was given to me by a customer (a brick company). Caused quite a stir at DFW security but they let me through.

We can start a series of pumpkins! I will introduce the "This pumpkin is smarter than Kip Hawley" version.

Well, you got lucky then. Last October I was stopped at LGA on a Thursday by the screener who objected to my cast-iron fry pan, meant as a gift. He claimed it could be used as a weapon. (without even tasting my cooking!! ) I was forced to leave it there, in "lost and found". When I asked if I could pick it up on my way home I was told it would be gone by Monday. I guess x-mas shopping starts early there.

I don't think TSA won't let do that for frying pans. I think the frying pans should be placed into checked bags is much better to keep safer from the aircraft. It does not allowed beyond the pans into the secure area. I think that mean you should ask Bart about it. He does know when he will telling you about frying pans.

I think everyone should carve "Squash Kip Hawley" on their pumpkins.

Unhappy

I've made it through security for years with 10 dozen frozen tamales, all wrapped in tinfoil, in my carryon on my flights at Christmastime. I was worried the first time I did this, but apparently, others had done it that year too, so when I went through security, all they said was "Your family must like those things."

I guess this year, I'll have to check them, & risk TSA getting hungry & eating my family's Christmas Eve dinner.

Here's an unusual carryone

The strangest carry on I've ever seen was when I was walking to the gate at LHR, after having gone through security. A woman (dressed in spandex and 1970's fur boots) was carrying a mirrored disco ball. I would have given anything to have been at security when she went through!

That reminds me of the woman I saw waiting for an ATL-DEN flight a year or so ago, in the middle of the shoe carnival. She had on thigh-high lace-up stilletto boots, and I can't imagine the experience at security for those.

Left SLC on Oct. 5 and a woman with a pumpkin made me curious. First, there isn't any mention on tsa.gov about carryon pumpkins and second, why in the world would someone bother to lug a 25 lb pumpkin around. Not like it was unusual or anything (the pumpkin) and could have been purchased anywhere she was probably flying to.
Most unusual thing I've seen lately, although it is the season.
Maybe she was on a date, and didn't realize it was after midnight..

Back in the seventies a friends father was non-reving on UA from SFO-ORD. My friend gave him a package to take to her mother, a couple pounds of San Francisco sourdough starter. The plane hit altitude, and the yeast started rising... and rising...

(he was a UA pilot, his kids were practical jokers)

I would imagine she had grown the pumpkin herself and wanted to share it with a loved one.

Seriously.

We have been known to carry hubbard squash south for Christmas.
