Then link ICE databases with the databases currently accessed to generate SSSS designation. As I conceded in my initial post, a determined terrorist would obtain a fake ID, perhaps in Boulder, Colorado from a source that supplies CU students. My point is that there are ways to winnow out pepole who do not require additional screening, if we are willing to exert some additional effort rather than perpetuate the farce that is the current system.

Thanks for sharing the story - that was great! ^
Everyone is interviewed, and screened, and evaluated. Those who engender suspicion are more intensively screened. Sounds like common sense, if a country is truly serious about aviation security. If the aim is a dog and pony show, then our current system with its emphasis on the front end, on a show for passengers starring passengers, shortchanging the backstage areas (airport personnel, ground crews, lack of federal screening of cargo) is the method.

Those were not prohibited by the FAA at the time. The search would not have stopped the hijackings. A paradigm shift has occurred. We no longer submit to the orders of hijackers.
That is quite right. I used to carry tools and such in my carry on. When the post 9/11 restrictions were published, I went through my carry on to "deweaponize" it. Transferred about 1/3 the contents to the checked bag.

Speaking of paradigm shift, I read this quote recently:

"In fact, it is extremely rare for hijackings, although sometimes bloody and violent, to result in an aircraft accident, and past experience has shown that once overpowered, safety can best be maintained by crews complying with terrorists's instructions."

from a book written by a Major Airline 777 pilot.

Published early 2001.

Many times more compliments than complaints? IN DENVER? Let's see, now...
that briefing was given to the screeners by... WHOM? Had it reflected a contrary trend would there have been a briefing at all?

Nevertheless, you... BELIEVED it?

May I be so bold as to ask WHY? This IS the same group figgered I was fodder for their gropes twice in a row, right? I won't ever know why, nor will anyone who knows me. But you believe them out of hand? OMG!

I reiterate. Visit the TSA site and check the item "What People Are Saying..."

Sayyy... I have some GREAT ocean front property for sale in downtown Fargo. Contact me right away... It's TRUE! Believe me!...

I can't decide if what you misspelled was "stupidity", "uselessness", or "power-hungry-mcdonalds-rejected-ness".

You dont have to believe it, that is your right. J.D. Power and associates rated DEN as number 1 in the U.S. and number 2 in the world.

J.D.Power -- now there's an unbiased organisation. When you see awards for things like "Best domestic carrier for flights of 500 to 750 miles" you know they're creating categories to fit the customers.

More info here:
The companies evaluated by J.D. Power in fact pay the firm to use its name in their ads, and a hefty amount of cash is said to be changing hands.

I wouldnt believe that this applies to airports. They evaluated alot of them. Since they are government owned, it would be hard to justify paying to have the JD Power name associated with it. Add to that the fact that airports arent a dime a dozen and you have no reason to believe that a "bribe" caused a change in ratings of airports when they are ranked internationally by passengers.

Dear Mr. Cue:

I DO believe you that Denver is #1 and has five times more compliments than complaints. It's the best there is as far as screening goes. Since in my own experience the Denver Shoe Carnival and Screeming Screeners is almost as bad as Atlanta, this has caused my spirits to droop to a new low.

OMG!

Makes me ashamed to be a Coloradan.

TSA: the agency who just now responded to a civil rights complaint of mine after only five short months... Long May It Waver...

Never, EVER adopt the test as part of curriculum until you know who wrote it... and what it really measures.
