Are escorts some how more dangerouse than those who buy round trip tickets? Or is there truly no rational explanation for this policy of giving them extra SSSScreening?

My guess is that since escorts are not run through CAPPS, the "logical" conclusion is to assume the worst and SSSS them.

Another factor is that TSA probably wants to discourage non-pax behind the checkpoints and discourage those non-pax from bringing lots of stuff (bags, purses, etc.), and SSSS is a good deterrent for both. Prior to the recent pat down rules and the shoe obsession, SSSS for someone with no bags really wasn't that intrusive.

Well that wall has already been breached. You get searched before you can enter the main public library here in Washington. You must go through metal detectors not only at banks and courthouses, but many museums and high schools. Your bags are searched before entering stadiums and amusement parks. Try looking at the websites for metal detector companies; they advertise to everyone from discotheque owners to factory operators. Where were all the avowed privacy advocates in the beginning, when it was "just" inner city schoolkids affected by the walling off of our civilization, and not the tie-wearing, business-travelling classes? Seems to me the Mall of America would make a prime terrorist target, it's only a matter of time before your cars are going to be swabbed before parking like mine is when I visit a friend at NIH.

Hey, now some TSA fellow can bark out a list of the specials and sales at the Airmall in addition to telling people to take their shoes off, laptops out of bags, etc.!

"Please take your laptops out of their bags and place them in a bin...The GAP is offering 20% off all sweaters...do not place your shoes in the bins...shoppers don't forget to get your free Godiva chocolate bar with the purchase of a dozen Godiva chocolates..."

Hey, maybe the TSA could wear fashions and accesories from the merchants in the mall (with TSA patches etc. sewn in) so that if a passenger admired the article, the agent could refer the passenger to the appropriate shelf or rack at XYZ shop! ^

It used to be that there was no decent shopping in the far western burbs of Pittsburgh, so, before 9/11, people went to the Airmall to shop.

Now there is a huge mall about 10 minutes away. I see this as a move on the part of the ACAA to try to make up as much revenue as possible that is being lost to the slow demise of the US hub at PIT.

TLV's new terminal -- the old one will no longer be used -- opens on Nov. 2.

It is set up so that you go through the initial security (the questioning) and check in and then pass through a section called "Bye and Buy". This will be the country's third largest mall and offers a place where relatives and friends can accompany passengers after the check in process.

The final steps are Passport Control and screening -- which is a much shorter process in Israel than the TSA equivalent. Only passengers will be allowed into this section.

(There will also be a number of Duty Free shops after this final screening.)
