Does it have the crenelated bezel? I think they would view this more as an impact weapon than a flashlight. IMO.

Yep... That's what's causing my concern

They have taken tactical pens

I frequently carry a small Surefire with me when I travel. It has an impact bezel as well. I've never been challenged. Sometimes it goes in my carry-on, sometimes in my jacket pocket but always through the X-Ray. Have not checked it once.

The only flashlights that I have seen issues with are the Mag-Lites that take the C or D batteries. For the smaller ones like this and other small LED lights I've never heard of them not being allowed through.

I heard its mags with 3 or higher batteries, as I own a nice 5D-Cell, you could seriously beat someone with that! I always travel with a flashlight MagXl100 is a pretty nice and new LED 3xAAA, never been questioned about it.

I wouldn't chance it with the bezel

Yeah I have a 4D in the car but when I travel I carry the LED mini Mag. And yeah those big Mag's can really screw someone up...

I used to carry a 4-C Mag light, but always checked it. I use a Coast P14 now and no way I am going to let some sticky fingered TSA take it on a whim. It is buried deep in my checked luggage. Are you folks suggesting that the Mags may have a use other than illumination?

Just put it in your carry-on and forget about it. 70% or more of the time it will get through. And that's when they know the "red team" is checking them.

Your chances of getting caught with it are very very low - They're only "looking" for stuff in your underwear. ^

Flashlight in a carry-on bag?

I have a flashlight which is 7.5 inches long and I want to take it with me for a camping trip.

I went to the TSA website and it states that flashlights more than 7 inches are prohibited on carry-on bags.

Since my light is a bit more than 7 inches long (being 7.5 inches), will the TSA let me through with it?

Just to be on the safe side , should I check it in my luggage instead?

I really like this light and I would hate risking the TSA confiscating it...

The light in question is a Insight HX200.

If the TSA rule is 7 inches then why risk it, check it.

Agree with Boogie + looking @ picture I'd be willing to bet you'd have a problem with it anyway.

What do you mean by problems?
Please explain.

I know these lights are discontinued, but other then that, what problems are you referring to?

I will pack it in my checked-in luggage.
