You should be fine, unless in the unlikely event that some airline rep makes a fuss about it -- highly unlikely since they usually don't check that closely.
I've flown on ID that was expired by nearly a year. I had no issue with the TSA or airline even as it was mentioned as having expired. My valid identity doesn't change with the expiration date of some printed object.

Domestic flight, then ID that is not expired by more than one year is rather frequently accepted by the TSA without any issue beside the normal ones for non-expired ID. I wouldn't expect anything worse than not being allowed to use PreCheck and perhaps having a standard kind of screening that TSA haraSSSSment subjects get at US airports.

Not likely to happen. They may ask you to verbally validate your name and birthdate and address and (less likely) maybe ask you some questions to check the answers against info in public/commercial databases. Nothing to worry about if you can manage to do online check-in. I wouldn't budget more than 30 extra minutes at the airport because of this. Five extra minutes has been enough for me.

Moving this to the more appropriate Practical Travel Safety and Security forum. Thanks.

If wanting to know if TSA runs checks for warrants on passengers who have an ID that very recently expired, this is as good a place to ask as any -- especially as most of the lawyers who deal with outstanding warrants have no clue about what th TSA does and does not do with passengers with an ID expired a couple of months ago.

Depends on what the person wants to know/do.

For the OP, if you have an unexpired passport, use that. TSA even has procedures for those who show up to the checkpoint without a photo ID.

How could TSA run a wants/warrants check? They're not LEOs. They'd have to call actual cops to do that.
