I call BS. Neither TSA nor the airports will pay for the resolution required. Even at 520 lines of resolution you can't see the name on a BP for more than a couple of feet.

Be careful, you're letting the facts get in the way of a good story. :P

About eight or 10 months ago, Denver installed new cameras at every checkpoint, in addition to the ones that cover the entire areas. They are very slim and pointed right at the x-ray machine and probably a little of the area where the bags come out.

Not backing up eyecue's assertion of resolution (nor disputing it), but I am saying they have installed many more cameras of late.

Gee, is TS/S becoming PV #2? The original post certainly reads like a propaganda puff piece.

Pssst...it's the newest TSA recording, not the pax. TSA is transmitting it to those funny little earplugs you wear.

If "patted down" I would/will do my best to avoid appearing "really pissed" at the checkpoint. I'm not spoiling for a confrontation, and I don't care to be harrassed because of my attitude. I just want to get through security with my dignity and my rights intact. Should that be impossible I'll complain through channels (and here, needless to say). I always carry a couple of complaint forms.

I did once know someone who could burp and fart 'on demand'. I know, I know, totally crude, but he's just the type to practice his skills during a patdown.

Worst of it was, he always giggled after either one. Well, that would make it even better during a frisk.

Not at DEN. There have been at least 5 TSA people let go for things that the camera sees.
...And bringing a gun to work isn't one of them...

They use that software that the crime shows use that lets them enhance the resolution of a grainy reflection in an irregular surface to the point that they can read the 4 point font on the piece of paper in your shirt pocket.

And a lot of people eat at McDonald's on a regular basis too. And a lot of people drive down the highway without seat belts as well.

Simply because a lot of people happen to do (or not do) something, or take a certain position, does not automatically mean it's intelligent.

Or are you suggesting that we should all jump off cliffs because some passenger somewhere decided to do it one day?

A pat-down given to me without my permission will be treated as battery. And TSA will not have my permission to give me a pat-down.

The same cameras that miss TSA screening clerks who routinely steal things out of passengers' carry ons?

How long will it be before someone who farts on a TSO gets charged for some silly thing such as assault on a 'federal officer'???

The information on my ID is being captured on tape without my permission? I guess then I shouldn't have an expectation of privacy in my personal information.

This is juvenile, but I found it really funny when someone ripped one in a courtroom just as the plaintiff's attorney had asked a question to witness for defendent. The perp was never located, but I noticed that the witness was doing all he could to avoid losing it on the stand.

I wonder how long it will be before folks start going through the checkpoint after about 3 days without shower or deoderant...
