You know, there's this modern invention known as a "wristwatch" that might be of interest to you ... :)

I don't like watches. Besides, I have hairy arms, so the hair gets stuck in the little rivets of the watch, and it's annoying.

...and hairy pockets! :D

I've said this before, but it bears repeating.
As I lawyer, I've conducted hundreds of depositions in my 18 year career. After spending a full 8 hours with a witness during which I can ask virtually whatever I want, the witness is compelled to respond under penalty of perjury, and I can study the witness' responses (and after conducting and analyzing weeks of written discovery and being completely familiar with the facts surrounding the witness' testimony), I can usually arrive at a fairly informed opinion as to whether a witness is lying or not, has something to hide, etc. The idea that a BDO, after a few days of training, can make this determination based solely on a few moments of observation is ludicrous beyond all belief. While being wanded while wearing a pair of cargo shorts and sandals one day last summer at IAD, I said to the screener, "Did it ever occur to you how absolutely STUPID you look wanding bare skin?" His come-back was: "Well, are you going to help me find a new job?" I responded, "People who are asking for job help don't do very well if they demand that someone help them." I rest my case... |

OMG I have been a BDO for almost three years now. We have completed more training on just asking questions and observing/analyzing the answers than just a few days. One of your peers, Jo-Ellan Dimitrius, has published a book that is required reading. Its more than a few days, it's now thousands of hours. Can you match that on just observation and analyzing?
How many TSA employees doing illegal things have TSA BDO's identified? |

Prove that it hasnt had results 2. If you stop enough people, sooner or later, you'll hit one who is a bad guy. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. That doesn't validate either the theory, the procedure, or the constitutional violation. |
I really don't care for bashing the TSA agents. None of us would work for their salaries. Nobody who had a better choice would take the jobs. Every day, all day they have to put up with self important SOB's like FTers, intermingled with Aunt Sarah who's on her first airline flight after 87 years and the single woman with four sniveling toddlers. I am amazed they don't go postal themselves. We surely ought to reserve out contempt for the silly bureaucrats who want to pass the wand over somebody and his hairy legs. We should give the poor slobs on the line a break.

Prove that it hasnt had results The BDO program has certainly produced results in the form of wasted effort, squandered funding and pointless harassment of passengers who pose absolutely no threat to travel safety and security. |
