Bangkok Airways Experience

I flew PG (Bangkok Airways) from BKK-REP-BKK last month, and had the exact same experience as you wrote in your review. One of the nice aspects of this airline is that they allow people who do web check-in to drop off their bags at the first class counter. This enabled me to avoid a very long queue at BKK, and I was able to head straight through security and to the lounge.
It sounds like you may not have flown them from REP-BKK. The lounge in REP is brand new, but it is very small, and the food selection is not as good as in the lounge at BKK. It also fills up pretty quickly, since it is directly opposite the PG gate, whereas at BKK you have to go out of your way to find it, and most people who are not used to accessing lounges probably aren't looking for it.
I would not hesitate to fly them again next time I am in that part of the world.

I flew BKK-REP-BKK with them earlier this month and was highly impressed. The REP lounge is pretty nice for an outstation. And I had scheduled a 60-minute PG->CX connection on separate tickets (really wanted dinner in HKG before my LAX flight!) and they got to BKK 20 minutes early like it was nothing.
Price was high but I used 5K SPG -> JAL points to redeem.

You were able to do web check in for an international flight? I've been statused on PG for 4 years now and have never been able to do this....

I have a REP BKK flight I need to book in late July.

Yes, in both directions. PG will not assign seats in advance (at least in Y) -- but they will allow you to choose seats at web check-in.

PG is a great little airline. They built the best little airport in the world IMO (USM) and charge you for it. You are quite fortunate that they lost their monopoly from Bangkok to Siem Reap recently. I was shocked how good their prices are now. I paid $450 RT about 10 years ago. Flying into PNH and going overland or by boat were quite unpalatable in those days.

Not so impressed. Used them on the HKT route. Will not do so again. Lounge - rubbish, just basic tat. Rather wait in a coffee shop & get a drinkable coffee. Ground staff too busy socialising. Staff refusing various carry-ons at boarding as if they were on a mission. On my no fly list. TG for me.
