This over exuberant moderation has to stop.

The agrument that the thread is still there for others to see is false. Without any new contribution it quickly moves out of most peoples default 5 day setting. Other Moderators on other boards do not seem to move threads with the same zeal as Patron. I have no problem with threads that are way off subject being moved or if a flame war develops the thread being closed.
All that I, and others, are asking is that a little latitude is allowed. LH may be a German airline but that does not mean its board has to be manged in a tuetonoic manner.

"Lies, ****ed lies and statistics." - Most threads on other boards are moved/closed because either they are way off topic or they are flame wars. Not so on LH and *A.

I find it interesting, but hardly surprising, that most of those who agree with Patron's style of moderation are either German or from Germanic countries.

Hey we all 'think' slightly differently based on our place of birth.
As Eric Burdon sang over 25 years ago:
if the viewer cannot understand it,
particularly those of you who are European residents,
save up all your bread and fly Translove Airways to San Francisco USA.
Then maybe you'll understand the song.
It will be worth it.
If not for the sake of this song, but for the sake of your own peace of mind.
Must be my warped Ozzie sense of humour but after reading the last few posts, (and not directed in any way to Patron I stress) this grainy photo flashed into my mind. Most Americans will not have a clue what it is, which might be just as well. However I feel sure a few here will get a smile from it.

Sorry folks, but I agree with Gaza.
I read the STAR forum. I like to consider myself a disinterested observer since that forum is not one that I actively participate in.
DISCLAIMER... Patron locked a post that I wrote. But that aside...
The post in question IMHO really did belong where it was posted. It made absolute sense in that forum.
When a post such as that gets moved, it brings 'less' participation from the community. While an anser or 2 may be forthcoming from say the United forum; it's more likely to get quality answers from the STAR forum. There's no way a regular UA flyer could answer some of those questions.
As for consistancy...if I always run a red light, would that be considered consistant, even though it's wrong. Just because Patron always moves a post doesn't make it right.
I think there is some 'flawed' logic here.
One last thing. Since Patron is from Europe, is it possible his standards are 'culturally' different than ours. Sorry, but even at 50, I don't have the answer to that one.

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Scene setting: Basil has had a bump on the head. German guests have arrived at his hotel.
Basil: "Don't mention the war. I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it. So it's all forgotten now and let's hear no more about it. So that's two egg mayonnaise, a prawn Goebbels, a Herman Goering and four Colditz salads....no, wait a minute...I got confused because everyone keeps mentioning the war."
German: "Will you stop mentioning the war?"
Basil: "You started it."
German: "We did not start it."
Basil: "Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."</font>

British humor is quite funny, especially when it comes to their complex in dealing with Germans (which is actually displayed by Gaza's posts as well, no offense
).
I remember that I saw the video to "Three Lions" by The Lightning seeds ("Football is coming home"), a song that they recorded for the European Championships 1996 - they show the band members playing against 11 really ugly guys wearing the jerseys of the German national team - and one often overlooked detail is that all German players are wearing the same jersey - that of the German player "Kuntz"... I don't think many Germans got the joke as the name is pronounced Koooontz in German...but I thought it was a nice jab.
Just goes to show how much they love us Germans...
(Oh, and by the way, Germany won the European championship in Wembley 1996, eliminating England.
).
