How does his "attack" differ from your stalking of his posts?
How does his "attack" differ from the attack you leveled on him in that VERY SAME thread? |
I "stalked" no-one. techgirl had posted this comment below (remember???) and there is only one Moderator that Double Zero is friendly with AFAIK, so it was not rocket science to find the Forum involved.

OK.
Even if your explaination is believable, you failed to address the second question? |
It's after 2:00 p.m. in the east, Bethesda Junior High School has ended classes for the day.... and we're treated to more personal attacks from Avek00, this time saying other posters are in need of rehabilitation at the Betty Ford Center. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

The solution, of course, is to either consider the source or question the credibility of the source (with some tact, of course).
I suspect, that if it were clearly shown that if it is shown once or twice that there is no standing behind the voice saying silly things about the future of a given airline, for instance, that eventually the voice will go away. I give you the old planebusiness.com BB as a perfect example of this. I've said this before and I'll say it again--if FT had a "killfile" feature (twit filter, whatever you want to call it), this would not be a problem. ------------------ Saving the world, one clue at a time. |
Wow, after reading that Trip Reports thread I can only say this: FlyerTalk is in worse shape than it has ever been in my 4+ years here.

Maybe its just me, but the cliqueness seemed to really pick up steam when members of the boards became moderators. It seemed to sort of become a prisoners watching the prisoners kind of thing. Perhaps the solution is to continue with volunteer moderators with the caveat that you can either post or moderate...but not both. |

In the case of the FT Trip Report Fiasco, I think it would have hlped a great deal. |

and now we can all get some sleep (since the vitriolic atacks appear to have simmered down).
Whilst being a new FT'er and only 35 (but an experienced flyer on OW airlines), I am here to learn from others more experienced or knowlegeable than I am. There are hundreds of FT'ers that would meet that criteria - whether they post daily, weekly or whenever; or whether they fly daily, weekly or whenever. We all can have something to give. We just need to be given the opportunity and the support. Similarly when I feel I can help somebody, I enjoy posting and seeing people reply with thanks. That makes my day - because I have made a difference to somebody else and yet they may never meet or know me. Isn't that (or shouldn't it be) the basic tenet of FT life. Now let's put down our prestige and get back to what makes us really tick on this site - sharing our knowledge, being helpful and having some fun along the way. Golly, by now on the QF site, beer would have been mentioned a couple of times in the thread by now http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif. |
Originally posted by Moderator2: My solution is for moderators to post using a different handle that clearly identifies their status, such as I have done since July 2001. If I am posting as "Craig6z", everyone knows I am speaking as a plain old FT participant. Posting as "Moderator2" means FT business. There is no reason others can not follow this pattern to minimize confusion. When I post a "moderator" post, I add a signature identifying myself as a moderator. I think that differentiates it very well without the "ModeratorX" anonymity. I could get behind the alternate ID if we were required to always add our "real" name to the sig of the "ModeratorX" id. That would help to keep things straight as to who is who. [This message has been edited by skofarrell (edited 05-20-2003).] |

If we have to have moderators I would vote for the idea that moderators either moderate or post in any given forum, not both. That would lend itself to a more fair and unbiased view in my opinion. Then anyone could post in the forums that really interest them and help out FT as a moderator in a forum that they had no personal interest.
