FAQ

When is [insert airline here] joining oneworld???
Which airlines are lined up to join?
See list below and
https://www.oneworld.com/member-airlines/overview
Another useful page for official announcements is: https://www.oneworld.com/news-information/oneworldnews

Current members elect (officially announced and currently aligning processes):

WY - Oman Air
Announced 20JUN22, with a target of '2024' - no indication yet when in 2024 this may be. https://www.oneworld.com/news/2022-0...-join-oneworld

Expected members:

FJ - Fiji Airways
Currently the only oneworld Connect member, FJ stated 28FEB24 that they would like to seek full membership and would apply in Q3 2024.Full membership may still take until 2025/2026. #1489 and https://onemileatatime.com/news/fiji-airways-oneworld/

EI - Aer Lingus
EI's new owners, IAG (owners of existing members BA+IB), stated before acquisition that they fully intended EI to rejoin, and have restated the intention since completing the purchase. EI has not yet been publically 'invited' by oneworld but should join eventually. When? When it's announced... When will EI become a full member of Oneworld?

So this definitely strengthens AA/AS/OW capabiltiies out of the US to Japan.
spot on and for HA they can feed JL domestic flights in FUK Itazuke Air Base Kansai airport and Sapporo.

Not inside info, but a quick Google search turned up several articles from earlier this month saying it will be in the last half of the year. And that probably means the reality will be more like early 2025.

Saw that yesterday as well, am quite excited for that one, won't come too soon and hopefully they're already partially integrated as a Connect partner. They tend to offer some quite attractive prices from Japan to OZ and NZ, plus being able to put the Pacific islands on a RTW itinerary. The only negative I see from this is that right now it's fairly easy to get awards on them and I am sure that will become more competitive once every other OW member has access.

Has anyone at 1W considered having Condor join? Its partnered with AS; it has a decent international J product with its A330-900s, and it would provide a bit more depth (along the lines of Air Berlin before it died)...

AS has non Oneworld partners so that's not unusual.
Condor routes overlap heavily with Lufthansa Group and they would be forced to compete. It's one thing if there was no oneworld coverage in EU but IAG is already there.
After AS acquires HA, they will pick up a significant amount of leisure travel, both intl and domestic.

Im not sure how whis is a problem - having to compete. Look at Star: Austrian, Brussels, LOT, Lufthansa, and Swiss all fly similar routes, no? Why must be One World be limited to only what BA/IB offer.

I think a bigger problem with Condor is they rely on LH to fly short-haul routes in Europe. And, even if you purchase a business class ticket for the Trans-Atlantic leg, you're only getting economy in the US and Europe. I'm not sure OW would want to admit Condor knowing they would be relying on LH to handle connecting flights.
