Current members elect (officially announced and currently aligning processes):
WY - Oman Air
Announced 20JUN22, with a target of '2024' - no indication yet when in 2024 this may be. https://www.oneworld.com/news/2022-0...-join-oneworld
Expected members:
FJ - Fiji Airways
Currently the only oneworld Connect member, FJ stated 28FEB24 that they would like to seek full membership and would apply in Q3 2024.Full membership may still take until 2025/2026. #1489 and https://onemileatatime.com/news/fiji-airways-oneworld/
EI - Aer Lingus
EI's new owners, IAG (owners of existing members BA+IB), stated before acquisition that they fully intended EI to rejoin, and have restated the intention since completing the purchase. EI has not yet been publically 'invited' by oneworld but should join eventually. When? When it's announced... When will EI become a full member of Oneworld?

HA is the only US carrier that flies directly from the US (HNL) to other cities in Japan like FUK, KIX and CTS.
So this definitely strengthens AA/AS/OW capabiltiies out of the US to Japan.

Email I got from Alaska about the merger :
Today is a historic day for Alaska Airlines. As you are one of our most loyal guests, I want to share the news personally that Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines have reached an agreement to combine, expanding service and benefits for our guests, opportunity for our employees, and continued investment in the community.
Alaska Airlines’ continued aim is to elevate the travel experience, with premium products and services, our award-winning care, and continued expansion of connectivity and access for you – our guests – with things like new routes and global access through our 29 partner airlines including the oneworld Alliance. This combination is a unique opportunity to advance that journey with a company that shares our commitment to service, excellence, and care.
Hawaiian Airlines is a remarkable airline for whom we have deep admiration and respect, with a unique spirit and legacy, and values that are deeply aligned with ours. By joining together as one airline, we can build on our respective 90+ year legacies, do more for travelers and for our employees, and create a stronger platform on which to compete and sustain for the future. Here are a few highlights:
The process for approval of Alaska Airlines’ acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines will take 12 to 18 months and both companies will continue to operate as they do today until that time. You’ll continue to have access to your generous Mileage Plan benefits as they are today, which will only continue to improve. While nothing changes in the short term, we will communicate as milestones are reached. For more information & cautionary statements: localcareglobalreach.com
We are excited about the bright future ahead and are grateful to be on this journey with you. Thank you for your continued loyalty and I hope to see you on board soon,
Ben Minicucci, Alaska Airlines CEO

- Preserving the Hawaiian Airlines brand: The beloved Hawaiian Airlines brand will remain, reflected on airplanes, at airports and elsewhere. It will exist alongside the Alaska Airlines brand, supported by a single operating platform and industry-leading loyalty program.

The combined airline will have a fleet of 365 narrow- and wide-body airplanes.

I like this merger as well. Having CTS, KIX & FUK Japanese routes are quite interesting. I flew them once from CTS to HNL in J. It was fine in service though the hard products were a bit worn out.

What about Mexicana? They lasted less than a year the first time, but the Mexican government is trying to revive the brand. The Mexican Army will fly some Mexican Air Force 737s because of problems with leasing aircraft. What kind of OW status recognition can we expect?

I wonder if Alaska Air Group eventually become Alaska-Hawaiian Air Group , making it like Air France-KLM Group but from the USA...

That can work however PR joining Oneworld can be blocked by CX due to MNL Ninoy Aquino Airports proximity to HKG. On HKG-MNL CX always has better planes and services than PR. An easy way to do this on HKG-MNL is taking CX919/918 A330-300 A350-900 B777-300er A350-1000 CX907/906 A321neo. Then go back the other way on PR306/307 300/301 PR versions of the same CX planes you'll find that PR widebodies are tighter than their CX counterparts in Fiesta Class their economy branding and lose the AC power plug in PR fiesta class but CX versions of the same planes as pr have is all classes AC plug equipped

I think the last word (over a year ago) was some time in 2024.
