Q? Purchase in Canada ex-Peru
Can someone confirm that if we pay for a xOne6 in Canada that would originate in Peru that we would pay the lower price based out of Peru?
We were looking for a South American TA to book this; however, base on the posting below it seems like we get an exception if booked and payed for in Canada......

This information doesn't match our several converstaions with BA RTW desk and the one conversation with AA. We plan to join AA FF program but have no miles accumulated with them and only a few with BA. Oneworld seems to allow us more flexibility the *A.
Thanks for your comments in advance

On the oneworld Explorer web page there is a link to the fare rules:
Code:
15. SALES RESTRICTIONS
...
When travel originates in a country for which a specific local
currency fares is published and the ticket is sold in another
country, the fare will be that published for the country of
origin converted to the currency of the country of sale at the
bank selling rate. The resultant fare must not be lower than from
the country of sale.
Exception: Not applicable for sales made and/or travel originating in Canada

More flexibility than Star Alliance depends on what you want to do. xONEx is great if you want to do some very weird routing and maximize the miles you are in the air. You can get 50,000+ miles itineraries with oneworld which you can't do with *A.
Especially a xONE6 will not be great value after June when you can only do 16 flights compared to 24 coupons on Star Alliance.
Which class are you booking? If economy, then this books into L class. For some carriers you will only get 25% or 50% of actual miles flown. On Star Alliance it books into a higher booking class which is another advantage. So as always: YMMV.

Which carriers do you avoid with Oneworld that only offer you 25% or 50% of actual miles flown?
Cheers and thanks for your reply....Misnerfamily

Air tickets sold in Peru attract a very high sales tax (I think 19% but not sure).
If you manage the get an ex-Peru ticket sold and issued in Canada this warning possibly does not apply, but I'd still be very concerned about it, right up to departure time. Consider, for example, that ex-Peru tickets purchased on aa.com are subject to this tax, even though they are sold in the US.
