xONEx Resissue Issues
I currently have a ticketed LONE4 with departure from SYD scheduled for September. I am considering a change in routing, but my TA advises that this will incur a reissue fee. My understanding of the most recent rule set is that for Areas 2/3 unlimited changes are allowed prior to departure, regardless of ticketing status. Can anyone clarify this?
If my TA is indeed correct, does making a stopover at a destination that is currently only transited class as a routing change? I am flying MEL-xLHR-TXL but it may be convenient to make a 'stopover' at LHR in order to connect to a separately-booked flight.
Thanks in advance!

You are correct - the TA seems to be trying to avoid doing some work!
A change from an x (transit) to an o (stopover) is a routing change (ticket reissue due to extra taxes etc.).

Note that changing LHR to a stopover will increase your taxes. Plus you have any increase in "taxes" since the original issue, which could be significant.

Yeah, STA Travel in Australia tried to charge me $50 service fee to change the date on my LONE4, so I just called AY and made the change directly with them. STA Travel in Sweden on the other hand did it for free, but as I had a paper ticket I did need to pay for having a new one printed.
TAs seem to charge whatever they want, and they will usually get away with it.

As christep mentions, for only date changes there is zero need to reprint the ticket (even airline changes are allowed) ... reissue is needed only for a routing change. Oneworld has improved greatly about this in the past 2 years, used to be a hassle with some airlines if there was a date/airline change on the coupon, they were always supposed to accept it without reissue but some airlines/airports did not know this rule very well. No problem these days.
