Your original post specified a change in routing -- and that does require a reissue of the ticket. And the "AA charge to reprint the ticket" fee is not the OWE reissue fee. The ticket does not need to be reprinted by AA, it can be hand-written by STA for example ... AA is acting as a sub-contractor doing the ticket issue for the TA, and not as an airline in this instance ... other TAs would use other means for printing the ticket (at varying prices).
As christep mentions, for only date changes there is zero need to reprint the ticket (even airline changes are allowed) ... reissue is needed only for a routing change. Oneworld has improved greatly about this in the past 2 years, used to be a hassle with some airlines if there was a date/airline change on the coupon, they were always supposed to accept it without reissue but some airlines/airports did not know this rule very well. No problem these days.
