these appear to be 'Leisure Air' flights so I don't know if they are available for OW itineraries

I can't see these in the timetables, but in any case if they're 'Leisure Air' metal then sadly they won't be eligible for an xONEx.

It is missing the BA flights between LHR and WAW.

Nice software tool.

I was just playing around with a potential itinenaries for our trip and tried e.g. something like JNB-MRU-LHR-ARN-LHR-DFW-HNL-NRT-HKG-AKL-SYD-LHR-CDG-LHR-NBO -- two "stops" in Europe. While the route is presumably fine (four flights in EUR), the ..LHR-CDG-LHR-.. is just transits.

Perhaps MM could indicate the parts of a route when only transit is possible?

Transits and stop overs in the starting continent are different for everyone. MM does show Asia transits on SWP ex/to Eu, Eu transits ex/to Africa & US transits ex/to South America

Done, thanks.

Since both BCN-LEN and BCN-ABC are marketed by Iberia with an 8xxx flight numbers through their affiliate Air Nostrum, I think these would be allowed within a ONEWORLD ticket. LEN is Leon in north-central Spain and ABC is Albacete in south-eastern Spain. All Air Nostrum flights are ticketed as IB8XXX and Air Nostrum is an accepted OW affiliate. I think the Denim Air reference is to indicate it is operating the aircraft under a wet-lease agreement with Air Nostrum. Does that disqualify it? I believe I've earned AA miles on Air Nostrum flights such as this before so that leads me to believe these flights are eligible.

Denim Air is a extra capacity provider from the Netherlands. Air Nostrum has been contracting Denim Air from their first flight under a wet-lease contract, which means that (small) a part of the aircrafts of Air Nostrum (some of the Dash-8) belong to Denim Air, that also is in charge of contracting the pilots (but not the FAs), that usually are non-Spaniards (the majority are from Holland or from Belgium). This wet-lease helps Air Nostrum to deal with the demand as they can cut/increase temporary/permanently some aircrafts when they need it without having to hire / sack its own employees.

The "friendship" between both carriers is very deep. Now Air Nostrum has reduced considerably the weight of Denim Air, but some years ago Air Nostrum was by far one of the most important clients of Denim Air. So much that Air Nostrum bought the company and when they didn't need them that much, they sold it back to private investors from their home country.

Denim Air is not part of OneWorld, indeed, but it's not a codeshare but a wet-lease (by this I mean that the operator just follows the instructions of Air Nostrum). Denim Air "looses" its personality when they operate for Air Nostrum. The aircrafts have full Air Nostrum colours, service, interiors, etc..., and they carry the OneWorld tag.

Therefore, a Denim Air is a 100% Air Nostrum flight and there you earn points as if you had flown Air Nostrum.

Thanks malcolmkettering & GatoVolador. I've re-added BCN-ABC & back.

So far only new rules I've spotted are:
- JL single number through flight to Brazil via USA considered travel through 3 continents
- Ekaterinburg added to Europe
- Seasonality seems to have been abolished - ie no more low season fares

Have checked the accuracy of above myself

BOS-BGI was already in place as a direct service; AA1078 looks to be seasonal BGI-MIA in the summer and BGI-BOS direct in the winter. So I added BGI-BOS. Did I get that right? Should be in place now.

Yes thank you SLF

I never thought to check if BOS-BGI was already in because the segment on my itinerary is BGI-BOS

So my itinerary now only shows one error - two trans-cons in Aus - even though it qualifies for the exception

No restriction between SYD/MEL - PER for passengers originating in PER when in conjunction with travel to/from JNB/BOM/SHA/PEK
. A bit too esoteric for MM to handle?;)

I'll give it a go :) Can you help my understanding of that rule? Is that to permit origination in Perth and immediate connection on to a east-coast to JNB/SHA etc. service? Presumably something like PER-SYD-JNB-LHR-YVR-HKG-PEK-SYD-PER is valid and consumes no west-east transcons in Oz?

pandaperth Oct 10, 2008 6:32 am

Don't know that I can help
I've just paid for a LONE4 ex Perth which starts PER-SYD-JFK and ends BOM-SYD-PER
AA RTW Desk didn't make any comment about it when I booked it.

So, my reading of the rule is "an itinerary originating in PER that either starts with PER-MEL/SYD-JNB/BOM/SHA/PEK or ends with JNB/BOM/SHA/PEK-SYD/MEL-PER is one that does not have a restriction on trans-cons"

Kiwi Flyer Oct 10, 2008 2:17 pm

Another data point, I have AKL-SYD-PER-SYD-JNB-...

EXCEPTION:

I love MM, and am very grateful for the effort made in it's maintenance. I've just noticed, however, that it isn't really clear that no BA Tier Points at all are earned by a BAEC member flying an LONEx itinerary. In addition, there can be circumstances when someone on an A- or D-ONEx ticket flies in L & earns no TPs either. (This is my understanding of the BAEC rules, although I would be happy to be corrected.)

Would it be possible, for BA users, to append to the line "# of BA tier points earned" the phrase "(No tier points for LONEx or other L-class segments.)"? (Something similar along these lines would also be fine.)

Clearly this isn't madly urgent, as people have lived with it until now, but it might save some newbie getting hold of the wrong end of the stick.

JanoSicek Oct 17, 2008 2:06 am

Unless I'm mistaken, on a DONEx if you are downgraded to economy, you get Y and not L. That should earn some points.

christep Oct 17, 2008 2:13 am

No - if you voluntarily choose to fly in economy on a plane which has a business or first class on a DONEx ticket then you need availability in L. You only book into Y on planes which only have an economy class.

MM site down

Thanks Mwenenzi for the tip. Sorry about this folks...

Edit: update: I've signed up for a new hosting service, MM can be reached here

Looks like I'll need to sue them for every cent I've paid them ;)

I'll see if I can find some alternative free hosting and get an alternate site in place...if anyone has a good suggestion, please let me know (I will also check all my various accounts ... I must have some hosting somewhere :))

Link didn't work for me.

Edited: Now it does.

Many thanks, but a minor-ish quibble. When using the AA mileage preferences, MM includes Plat/EXP 100% bonus on JL- and BA-numbered flights. Not so, sadly, just class of service bonus as applicable. Plat bonus on BA was discontinued last year; it never existed on JL flights (unless operated using AA code, same for BA metal.)

Thanks. In fact, MM includes the bonus on all sectors - it isn't actually checking the airlines, as there could be several operating the sector and there's no way to tell MM which one you've chosen. Currently it assumes PLT/EXP status, and applies 200% credit for Y/premium Y, 225% for business and 250% for first class.

I'm open to suggestions on the best way to deal with this. For now I've added the following warning:
Note: Elite Status Bonus miles do not apply to all carriers.

I've also added a oneworld elite status selection control; this is currently (only) used to adjust the number of miles shown as earned on AA. Feedback welcome :)
