How does one book an AY-ticketed xONEx fare, originating in a city which AY doesn't fly/codeshare from?
Is there a central AY RTW desk in Finland, or can local AY offices in London etc. deal with RTW bookings? (I've previously booked an AY RTW online, but that was ex-HEL and the tool worked fine, but it can't manage it if the first segment is on a different airline) |

Just out of curiosity, why is it important that AY ticket it?

Help! LONE 4 with RJ
So I'm looking to book a LONE-4 ticket that would be AMM-ALG-MAD-EZE-LIM-BOG-SCL-AKL-BNE-NOU-SYD-NRT-DEL-KUL-SGN-HGG-AMM. I made sure everything was valid and got pricing with the online tool, but when I went to pay for it I ran into the apparently standard RJ-AA online booking bug. I'm not just starting and ending in Amman for the low price either, I have close friends and family there, and I'm trying to avoid the US because the whole point of this trip is to get out of the states for a while. So I do wan't this ticket, and I'm curious what's the best way to go about trying to book it? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks guys!

Advises on itinerary
Hi all,
This is my first message on flyertalk. I've been consulting the website for years now. Fantastic source. I'm very close to fulfilling a childhood dream and booking a RTW flight. It would be a LONE4. I'm based in Rio, Brazil. The itinerary I painstakingly put together so far is GIG-SCL-AKL-BNE-NOU-SYD-MNL-KUL-KTM-HKG-PEK-OVB-LBD-DME-GYD-LHR-GIG I found out that including Africa on this ticket was not worth it. My idea now is to buy the Star Alliance Africa Airpass for this part of my journey. I'd like to consult the god-sent gurus in this forum for suggestions of any itinerary change (or any other tips) I should make before I click yes on the OneWorld website (and I can't wait to do so). Thank you all! |

I'd like to consult the god-sent gurus in this forum for suggestions of any itinerary change (or any other tips) I should make before I click yes on the OneWorld website (and I can't wait to do so). Are all the places on your itinerary cities where you actually want to stop, or are some merely transit points? Are you a member of any OW FFP? An RTW is a great opportunity to rack up a lot of points / miles and if that is what you want then we can help you to maximise the distance. But first we need to know more about your situation and intentions. cheers, Henry |
Hi henri999,
Thanks for your reply. I am member of the LAN FFP, although I have exactly zero miles flown with them. However, LAN bought TAM, of which I am a FFP member, and the FFP programs of both companies should be integrated in 2014. I can also transfer miles from my credit card to LAN, which is why I joined them. (As a side note for forum users, TAM is expected to join OneWorld sometime in 2014. This will greatly help people that would like to add South America to their itinerary. TAM flies to several locations within South America, and also connects Brazil with North America, Europe and more importantly South Africa - which could be key to future RTW plans) Most of all airports on this list (GIG-SCL-AKL-BNE-NOU-SYD-MNL-KUL-KTM-HKG-PEK-OVB-LBD-DME-GYD-LHR-GIG) are places I'd like to go to. The details are i) There are two stops in Australia mainly to be able to input Noumea in the trip. ii) Hong Kong is there due to being the most convenient place to fly straight from Kathmandu iii) Novosibirsk, Khujand and Moscow are there because I'd like to include Central Asia in this trip, and these airports where the ones I could find out of Beijing. If there is a way to leave Beijing, have a stop in Central Asia, and move on to Moscow or other European city saving this almost useless stop in Novosibirsk, that would be great. iv) I know taxes in London are larger, but there are few options for me since I have to come back to Rio from Europe. Madrid and London are the only OW airports where I could do this, and I have friends living in London. Thanks again! |
I forgot one more detail:
v) Santiago is included because is the gateway to New Zealand. If I could fly from Rio to Auckland with counting Santiago as a stopover and thus saving a segment, that would be fantastic. |

As far as I know the part about connecting TAM Brazil to South Africa is, quite unfortunately, not true. The only existing route is GRU-JNB, operated by South African. I think Malaysian used to fly to CPT from EZE, but this flight no longer exists.
MH used to fly KUL-CPT-EZE, but canned it for cost saving shortly before they joined oneworld. |
GRU-JNB should be just a codeshare then. My bad.

Problems when changing dates?
Sorry to bother you guys again.
Has anyone here during a RTW trip faced a problem when changing flight dates? I'm about to book it, but my fear is wanting to change a flight date down the road and then being told by the carrier that the next available flight for a RTW economy seat is one month down the road. I don't want to be stuck in Siberia for ages. Thanks for your patience, Guilherme |
