Substitute Vancouver for the origin point (you'd have to pay to get from SFO to YVR) and see what you get. |
Adding Segments After Starting Travel
I want to add two segments (I currently have 13/16 filled) after starting travel on my DONE4.
Has anyone done this? Is it simply a matter of calling the appropriate desk, providing info, and paying the $125 change fee? Is there anything else I should know or consider? |

As above. If you're lucky they will recalculate all the surcharges and you may find the total is lower than originally due to declining (or totally removed) fuel surcharges. In that case then just the $125 fee.

I have quick question about ex-JNB xONE4. Would it be possible to visit Africa-S.America-N.America-Asia as the four continents and use only one connection (no stopover)in Europe for the first two segments JNB-xMAD-SCL? Or would this force it to become a xONE5 to include Europe? I am not interested to include Europe, and could skip the Middle East as could have HKG-JNB as the last segment. Thanks for your help.
|
It would be counted as a 5th continent

Yup, it's a DONE5 the moment that you touched Europe to transit through. Even using the DOH transit rules, it would count as touching Europe/Middle East, and it's a DONE5. But in all honesty, the upgraded cost of a DONE5 isn't that much at the moment.
Hopefully with the new JJ non-stop JNB-GRU things will become easier to have a xDONE4 as I intended. I wonder if there has been any indication of when will this flight become operational? I have searched but could only find general comments about it happening in 2016... |

I just found out that JJ has a codeshare with SA for their non-stop JNB-GRU. But I guess it would not work for xONEx products, given that there is no mention of allowing SA codeshares in the rule sheet... right? this is the flight: JJ (SA) 8343 JNB - GRU |

It's oneworld operated by oneworld only [JetStar is allowed under QF code] Rule J Code:

For clarification purposes:
JNB-GRU South African Airlines SA222 (metal) Tam Airlines JJ8343 (codeshare; operated by SA) & JNB-GRU South African Airlines SA224 (metal) Tam Airlines JJ8345 (codeshare; operated by SA) |
Nevermind. Misread your reply, Calchas...! "Certainly not" as in NO codeshares operated by South African Airways and other non-oneworld with the exception of JetStar... makes sense. Thanks!

The fact that JJ has codeshared with SA on the route for so long suggests to me that JJ will make a success of it, they must have access to the passenger numbers. Just waiting for the announcement now. |

JQ Jetstar Australia 100% owned by Qantas. JQ does have QF & AA codeshares on its aircraft. The other Jetstar's in Asia have different ownership.
The main issue with the QF codeshares on JQ is that QF does not sell J seats on it's codeshares, even on JQ aircraft with a J cabin. eg, JQ3 (SYD-HNL) has a QF codeshare as QF283. It is a 787 and has a 21 seat Business Class cabin. You can not get those seats on the QF code and for a oneworld fare, you'll be booked in L. |
Hi all, I just booked a DONEx out of South Africa, and used BA's South African office to do the booking since that was what the online tool told me to do. However, I want to accrue the mileage from my trip through AAdvantage, which is my home program. I called AA just now to verify that I would get the mileage for the flights in the same way I would if they were booked through AA, but I don't really trust the information I get through them over the phone. Has anyone else used the method I'm describing to book and credited the miles to AA? Or do I need to cancel the booking and find a way to get AA to book it for me?
Edit: reading the AAdvantage rules online it looks like it shouldn't be an issue; with BA, for instance, it says "Earn AAdvantage miles when you fly on British Airways marketed and operated flights as well as British Airways codeshare flights operated by oneworld carriers and affiliates." It sounds like the issuing carrier shouldn't matter in that case. But I want to make sure I'm not missing something here! |

The airline you book with (or the platng carrier) has no bearing whatsoever on mileage accrual. You simply need to put your AA FF number in the reservation. You can do this at the airport when you depart or earlier (probably by phoning AA with your ticket number). As BA ticketed it you may also be able to phone your local BA officr and ask them to do it. If you are accruing to AA make sure you're maximising AA codeshares where possible. |

I tried booking online over the weekend and got the mysterious error 4606 - 68202
Had to call AA RTW desk this morning to do the reservation over the phone and therefore paid an extra $50 fee. |
Hey all
I booked a AONE4 ex-NRT and had a question regarding the final leg and a potential fear of "hidden city" penalty. We are starting our trip in Japan, and would like to end our trip in HKG. I can route our final flight from JFK-NRT via HKG on CX. Is there any penalty for not taking the final leg (HKG-NRT) and "finishing" the journey? Will we receive the mileage for JFK-HKG if we dont finish the entire trip? I know with normal flights, there is a fear of Hidden city pricing/no showing, but does this apply with xONEx tickets? |

I think the ticketing carrier (presumably JL) will get over it (they'll probably never learn that it was unflown anyway, CX & JL are hardly best buddies). However you may wish to arrange to have a stop in HKG instead of just a transit. |

Even if they wanted to reprice your itinerary to the "correct fare", I doubt there is any other fare or combination of fares that could be used to price your real itinerary.

My problem is that I can't arrange a stop in HKG at the end of the trip as I am starting the trip in Japan, and cant go back to Asia on this ticket. My biggest concern is not getting credit for JFK-HKG as this is the leg that will get me ExPlat. |

You are allowed four flights in Asia and two stopovers. So if you haven't had two stopovers at the beginning of the itinerary, then you can have a stopover in HKG at the end. With regards to the final HKG-NRT flight - simply change its date to be about one year after the first flight. You never know, you might end up having a use for it. if not, then simply 'forget' about it:D |
Crash LANding in PUQ
Greetings all from Punta Arenas.
We (2 pax) are LAN flying MPN PUQ on 20 Feb and are seeking to get onwards to SCL as soon as possible on our BA issued LONE4 tickets. We have a reservation for PUQ SCL on March 3 and want a simple date change. We called at the LAN office in town today. Unhelpful clerk says "Impossible to change. You call BA" After a little gentle persuasion, she accepts change is indeed possible on these tkts but says nothing in L class till March 2. (LAN flies 4 air buses a day on this route). There are lots of seats in Y of course - have checked Expedia. Any advice? Is it worth hanging around on a standby basis at the airport? Logic dictates that better to bump us forward into empty seats if they have no last minute takers and have our seats to sell later. But then again.... |

Is waitlisting actually permitted on this fare? I have a feeling it isn't, but there's no reference in the rules.
Just tried waitlisting L class on LA and got this in Amadeus: LA 090 L 21FEB 7 PUQSCL NOT AVAILABLE AND WAITLIST CLOSED and this in Sabre: 1 LA 292L 21FEB S PUQSCL UC1 235P 555P /DCLA So LA won't accept a waitlist for L, and probably wouldn't accept airport go-shows/standbys either |

I don't see anything about it in the rules either. Open segments are permitted, so it's not that each segment has to be confirmed, but, for example, BA doesn't accept waitlists for L class whereas they do for A class and only sometimes for D class. My BA friend who was trying to ticket it for me told me that "RESERVATIONS REQUIRED FOR ALL SECTORS" probably implied "CONFIRMED RESERVATIONS" (this wasn't a RTW fare), but he didn't say that maybe LA just don't allow it on some fare classes. |

Please bear with this relative newbie,
Finding it difficult to decode this stuff. Find it difficult believe there's not a pair of L seats going north from PUQ to SCL anytime between Feb 20 and March 3 Not a formal wait listing but if we just show up off the MPN PUQ flight on 20th (or say the following day) and there's space in Y in any of the multiple flights, does anyone have a view if we can grab the seats and LA can then flog ours at their leisure? Do local staff have any discretion in such matters? Would a phone call to BA (issuers of our LONE4) be an expensive waste of time? Many thanks all. Really appreciate the collective wisdom of this forum. |

ticketing deadline & changes post ticketing
Hi, I am having a massive issues with QR issuing a DONE4 and I will miss the initial ticketing deadline of 8 days prior to departure. Now, the D fare buckets are available for the dates I need to travel (less than 8 days)... and I was thinking of issuing the ticket to initially meet the ticketing deadline and move forward my first segment (and subsequent flights). Do you think this is possible with xONEx fare (i.e. Can I book & issue DONE4 with first flight departing 8+ days out and later change the first segment to less than 8 days, for example, departing within 2-3 days to circumvent the ticketing deadline restrictions)?

Either we play it safe and fly back to NRT and then buy a one way ticket to HKG, or take the risk and stop our journey in HKG (and hope they dont void our JFK-HKG mileage because we didnt finish the journey with the connection). |

They send a copy of that coupon to your frequent flier programme who will then issue the appropriate miles to your account and charge CX for the cost of the miles. When you fail to board your flight at HKG, CX ... will do nothing I don't think (but I cannot know for sure) that CX will hold off sending the information to the FFP until the whole journey slice is finished. I don't think the IT is that clever. |
pricing and booking in europe
Q: How much does the ticket cost?
A: The ticket is priced based on the number of continents you visit, a minimum of three and a maximum of six. The pricing varies depending on where in the world the ticket is issued. If you want to try to save some money by starting your *ONE* somewhere other than your home to take advantage of local pricing and currency rate differences, check the link to current pricing. Hello, thanks for all the Information! However the current pricing link does not work for me. I want to start in June 16 from Europe (MUC,VIE or if cheaper Bratislava, Budapest) Quito, Lima, Santiago, Easter Islands, NewZealand - Europe taking a full year. So far I only found 2 travelagencies and no other way of booking QU 1 how can I check Price for 4 start cities QU 2 How can I book for THAT Price QU 3 The Airline timetables for spring 2017 are not ready can I leave the DATES open(the route is fixed) QU 4 Is there Price difference depending which time of the year I start? THANK YOU SO HAPPY to have found your Forum!! |

Welcome to FT tortuga444
Your itinerary covers four continents - even though you don't touch Asia, you have to pay for it when travelling from the South West Pacific (New Zealand) to Europe ex-VIE/MUC/ the base prices are EUR2500/7019/12977 for Economy/Business/First Class To the base price must be added the various taxes, fees and surcharges which depend on where you go and which airlines you choose to fly. On oneworld.com you can see the full fare rules, which Ire commend you read so you can maximise the value of your ticket. Also there is an on-line booking tool there, which is full of bugs but should allow to at least price up various itineraries that you are interested in. |
