QF (no status) or BA Silver for a trip.
So I have BA Silver (OW Sapphire), but I also have an old legacy QF frequent flyers with a fair amount of points but no status. I'd like to keep the QF account alive with a transaction, so as not to lose the points I've accrued (my period ends soon). So I was thinking of just flying my next trip on QF.
I'm flying Business (J) class from HNL - SYD - PER, and just wondered the best strategy.
* If I'm flying Business - can I access the lounges in HNL and SYD even if my. Would this allow me to bring a travel companion flying economy into the lounge?
* Are there any particular lounges or any other things I'd miss out on by having the ticket tied to my BA vs. QF membership?
I'm kind of hoping that given all flights are business differences in the actual trip wouldn't be noticeable.
Any thoughts/ideas? Thanks!
(Also if you can recommend any lounges in HNL or SYD domestic, most appreciated).

If you want to extend the validity of your QF account, there's lots of ways to do that - you can transfer a point from AMEX to Qantas if you have an AMEX card, you can buy something through the Qantas shopping portal, I suspect booking a flight that touches the US and then cancelling it within 24 hours would also work.

You should have access to the lounges in HNL and SYD by virtue of flying business, regardless of which FF number you use. The difference is that you would have the ability to bring a guest with BA Silver and not with a statusless QF FF account.

Some ways to get QF ff points, without flying, in linked post 9 as below. May not be up to date and may be/are others.
If driving/renting a car buying fuel from BP easy to do. But unsure in need to be AU resident to sign up/link with BP. And check if "Participating bp sites only"
