Very disappointing!

I wonder if it had something to do with AY fare coding. Usually "I" is the lowest business category. Not "D". It must be AY coding.....No seat selection also???
I wonder if you would get the lounge benefit at QR ?

Your experience is a wake up call for usingDoneX tickets.

Let us know what you are able to find out!

Sorry for inconvenience. A real hassle after spending $$$$$

Definitely no issues on QR, been through DOH now quite a few times on DONEx tickets. Always get the Al Mourjan or Al Safwa depending on the destination (a lot of middle eastern cities are First Class on QR)

Can anyone advise how do I set "open jaw" at final destination for xCai with the planning tool?
If I understand correctly, I can set my final destination without Middle East, would like to set it as Doha if possible

Just enter in Doha as the final destination and the automatic checker should pop up that it's a valid itinerary.

Unusual question as I book my next RTW:

On my first I prioritized getting:
  • HEL-LAX for the strange line on my lifetime flight map
  • SCL-SYD for my first south pacific crossing
  • SYD-JNB for the Antarctica crossing (already did PER-JNB on SA years ago)
  • SYD-NLK and SYD-AYQ because these are normally insanely expensive if purchased on their own
My question to the OW gurus (since I'm a Star Alliance guy usually): what other "unusual" routes could I add to my next OW RTW? Looking for unusual flights, fun lines to add to the lifetime map, etc. I'll attach the map for reference...I'm already planning HEL-SEA for the line when it opens up so that's on the map in white...

I've flown SYD-JNB (or v.v.) a few times and have overflown Antarctica (or the sea ice off the coast) only once.

For other routes that some might call "unusual," how about ANC-HNL? The difference can be quite dramatic in the northern winter. Or a couple of possibilities intra-state in Alaska, ANC-OME or ANC-OTZ. Go see the crazy seabed gold miners in Nome (or tour the remarkable, wildlife-filled Seward Peninsula) or stick a toe in the Arctic Ocean and watch the sun not set in Kotzebue, an Inupiat Eskimo community located north of the Arctic Circle. The same AS flight goes to both.

ANC-HNL is a great call! I'll look to add that one in.

My understanding is DONEx fares can't include intra-Alaska travel....otherwise I'd add BRW

The restriction is “only one flight to State of Alaska and one flight from State of Alaska permitted.” No restriction on flights within Alaska. But you will be burning NA segments.

Awesome - thanks for the suggestion - this is really helpful. I don't need to conserve NA segments so that's fine.

The rules - rule 4(k) only allow one flight to and one from, the state of Alaska. The rules are silent on intra-state travel, so BRW would be okay, as would Adak, if you want to experience the Aleutian chain. (Personal hint - both BRW and ADK wouldn't be my choices.) Go to Nome and rent a vehicle with which to explore the road system that radiates from the town into the Seward Peninsula bush.

This is awesome - exactly the type of stuff I hoped to find when posting my comment. I love the whole northernmost thing for BRW...and ADK also looks awesome....but the driving from OME does look great....and this will be in June so pretty much perfect timing...

You're way ahead of me, in terms of lines on the map

That happens when you've been to all 193 countries....these are the silly games you play now lol....and I'm totally looking forward to SCL-SYD-JNB next month and SEA-ANC-xxx-ANC-HNL on the next RTW now! Maybe I'll have to add ANC-OGG after that...

Remember you're only allowed one flight to and one flight from, Alaska, and only one flight between Hawaii and the mainland. So ANC-HNL/OGG would have to be followed by a flight to Asia or the SW Pacific/Australia/NZ. Or if your RTW was west-to-east, you'd have to fly Hawaii > ANC at the start of the North American part of the trip.

I'm taking the weekly HNL-CXI flight so I'll be good there - but thanks for the reminder!
