Does M class earn miles (AA) RTW?

Heres the plan,
OWE4, starting at LHR. Travelling in M.
Have signed up for Plat. challenge with AA, am registered as a NZ resident.

With BA
LHR-FCO. (FCO via land MUC)
muc-bhx-edi

With CX
edi-lhr-hkg
hkg-sin

With QA (70%)
sin-bne
bne-per
per-mel
mel-syd-chc
chc-akl-lax-sfo (AA in lax)

With AA
Sfo-dfw-mem
mem-stl-jfk
jfk-bos
bos-lhr

I am very worried i will not recieve mileage/q-points on CX and BA for that matter (NZ resident). According to Fewmiles site, M may not accure points/miles.
Your help and advice would be appreciated.

I fear you are correct on the AA miles. You could get credit for those flights on another scheme (e.g. AsiaMiles).

Moreover, your itinerary may not work...

You are only allowed two stopovers in the continent of origin. At the moment you potentially have four (FCO/MUC, BHX, EDI, LHR) so you wuld have to make two of them transits.

Also, you appear to have five segments within SW Pacific when you are only allowed four in the basic price so you would need to pay extra for one of them.

The accrual information is all explained nicely on the AA site ( under Advantage, partners and mileage programs, airlines )On BA with a New Zealand address B,H,K and Y would appear to be eligable. If you could put in an US/Canadian/Mexican or Australian address for a while, then B,G,H,K,L,M,N,V,W,Y,S,S2 and S3 would be eligable
On Cathay Pacific, only B,H and Y are eligable unless you can stick a Canadian address in, in which case K,L,M and S would also be valid.

So, if you can find a Canadian address to use, then you will get mileage for all of them, otherwise you will be limited

Thank you both, now anyone spare a Canadian Address? Really want to make AA Plat.

Chris - Quite right about two stopovers in region of origin. Have BHX as transit and lhr transit to hkg. Same with mel- xsyd- chc.

My wife thinks i'm crazy, but i love collecting those miles.

This doesn't work for SW Pacific. In the continent of origin you can only have two stopovers (and four segments, unless it is N America, in which case six). But in all other continents only the number of segments is important - there is no limit on stopovers. So the SW Pacific is not valid because it has five segments - the fact that one stop is a tranist doesn't make any difference - to get five segments you have to pay extra. But if you can get MEL-CHC ticketed on a single ticket coupon that is OK - it doesn't matter ifthe plane stops in Sydney - it is the number of segments (= ticket coyupons more or less) which is important.

You might want to consider joining QF FF instead of using AA. With QF you will get 100% miles on all sectors in M. But there is no Plat challenge available. You will also get a min 1000 points for any QF sector.

As for the 5 sectors in SWP, you may be better off just including the 4 legal sectors and purchase the fifth as a one-way flight on a different ticket rather than paying for an additional sector on the RTW fare. Someone else posted recently that the airline (I think I was QF in their case) forced them to pay for the last sector rather than the cheapest sector, so just purchase a one-way fare form the QF web site and don't include it in the RTW itinerary (and earn 1000 bonus QF points for doing so).

Just pick any address and change it back as soon as the flights credit just As long as your address is valid when they send the card out. Just make sure that the country is set to Canada. If you don't want to do that, then I would agree that the Qantas scheme would perhaps be a better option, however you will not reach any tier statuses with this sort of trip.
