This doesn't work for SW Pacific. In the continent of origin you can only have two stopovers (and four segments, unless it is N America, in which case six). But in all other continents only the number of segments is important - there is no limit on stopovers. So the SW Pacific is not valid because it has five segments - the fact that one stop is a tranist doesn't make any difference - to get five segments you have to pay extra. But if you can get MEL-CHC ticketed on a single ticket coupon that is OK - it doesn't matter ifthe plane stops in Sydney - it is the number of segments (= ticket coyupons more or less) which is important.
