Do Oneworld awards cover all destinations?

I have been looking at using my BA or AA points to do some travel in Argentina.

I just cannot find any award flights on LAN between Buenos Aires (AEP) and Ushuaia (USH).

Both BA and AA award search engines simply say OW does not fly there.

Has any online readers been able to use award miles on some of these out of the way places like to USH
or
is it the case that award destinations are restricted to the more popular routes and the rest are not accessible?

LAN (various airports) and TAM fly there although some of the flights are seasonal.

AA.com will not show either airline when you search for award flights.

As noted above there either are not awards available or you are not searching correctly. For example, LAN and TAM are not available by online search on aa.com, you have to call.

ba.com often has trouble displaying award availability on LA. See these threads for more info:

Small airports in Chile and Argentina should be bookable with BA or AA miles, it's a software bug that doesn't allow to do it online. You may have success on the phone, but this depends on the abilities of the agent (and award availability, which may be none for partners and open for LAN's own members)

Thank you for that .

Can you tell me if there are any suggestions to give to agents so they can manipulate the system to see the seats?

As an example, I have found that suggesting to Qantas agents to search for certain non popular sectors as part of a return booking helps actually find a seat one way.

Similarly , agents sometimes search for award seats using their own airlines codeshare on anothers metal. Not always applicable .This applies to Qantas eg the SYD-SCL-SYD sectors for awards on LAN are searched for under the QF codeshare whereas those AKL_SCL-AKL are found under the LAN flight numbers.

I would love to hear of any options you know of to get agents to see award seats to smaller cities and towns on LAN and TAM .

Do you want the bad news or the very bad news?

There is very little chance of LA award seats unless you are of a high tier LA FF. See the FT LAN Board for this depressing news. And with the discontinuation of the LA South American AirPass, you now have to pay serious money to get to USH. AEP-USH seems packed with gringos and they seem to want to fly on LA for some unknown reason. If you don't like that, then take the bus.

Thanks for that.

Are there any other airpasses that can be purchased that cover flying on LAN and I think TAM?

I have heard of one but cannot find any prices.

Yes. There is the Visit South America Pass

Most recent discussion I could find was last year - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/onewo...ss-prices.html

Thanks for that PP. I was still crying over the loss of the LA South America Pass so I'll see how this stacks up in comparison.
