Changes to the xGLOBnn rule sheet
There is new version of the rule sheet on the oneworld website
GF is dropped, and QR and UL added
Rules changes I've spotted are:
More African countries for the transit of Europe rule:
Business class traveller can travel in QR first on some flights:
in section 10. Sales Restrictions there used to be a list of restrictions along the lines of "If the itinerary includes airline X, then airline Y ticket stock cannot be used". This is replaced with the following helpful text:

2F3. For travel to/from or via Ghana/Kenya/Mozambique/Nigeria/ Rwanda /Seychelles /Tanzania/Uganda two permitted in Europe/Middle East when one is a transfer without stopover between Ghana /Kenya /Mozambique /Nigeria /Rwanda /Seychelles /Tanzania/Uganda and another continent.

I don't know how many new versions there have been since I lasted posted here (in 2015 :yikes: )
but when checking my facts to post in another thread, I realised that there had been two changes concerning the mileage of surface segments:

- If you do not return to the point of origin, then the mileage of the resulting 'open jaw' must be included. The relevant rule is:
4(d) Travel may originate at any point for which fares are published and must terminate at the same point, except that origin-destination surface segments are permitted as follows:
a. within country of origin
b. within the Middle East
c. between USA and Canada
d. between HKG and China
e. between Malaysia and SIN
f. within Africa
g. between Maldives and Sri Lanka/India
NOTE: Mileage for origin-destination surface will be included in the total mileage - But the mileage of other surface segments are no longer included. The highlighted words from an old version of the rules have been removed in the current version:
4H. Intermediate surface sectors are permitted at the passengers expense. Transoceanic surface sectors between TC1-TC2 and TC1-TC3 are not permitted.
EXCEPTION: For travel originating in the South West Pacific, one transoceanic surface sector between TC1-TC2 or TC1-TC3 is permitted.
Surface sectors must be included in the total mileage.

I have a feeling that the surface sector mileage is included by default on this kind of circle fare whether or not the fare rules say so.

IMHO
- if a restriction is not in the fare rules
- and it is not in the general conditions of carriage
- then the restriction is not enforceable
Because those two 'documents', together with the itinerary, make up the contract between the purchaser and the airline issuing the ticket

But I have no intention of attempting to purchase a Global Explorer ticket any time soon, so cannot test it
And anyway - the restriction was purposely removed from the fare rules; presumably NOT because someone thought "Oh we don't need that because it is implied with this sort of ticket"

and the new wording would allow connections to/from QF's BNE-LAX and MEL-LAX services, whereas the old wording seemed to imply SYD-JFK or vv were only allowed
In section 15 - Sales Restrictions, the following paragraph has been removed
QF operated services within the US (eg LAX-JFK vv) not permitted unless booked as a thru-flight segment between Australia and USA (eg SYD-JFK vv)
QF operated services within USA (eg LAX-JFK vv) not permitted unless booked in conjunction with a QF operated and marketed online connection or stopover flight at LAX
and the new wording would allow connections to/from QF's BNE-LAX and MEL-LAX services, whereas the old wording seemed to imply SYD-JFK or vv were only allowed
When travel originates in a Country for which a specific local currency fare is published and the ticket is sold in another country, the fare will be that published for the country of origin converted into the currency of sale at the bank selling rate.

The only changes, according to diffchecker are to do with:
- AT (Royal Air Maroc) joining the alliance
- LATAM group airlines ceasing to be full members and instead "participate as non-oneworld members"
So these routings are still possible:
