Looks like RJ is your ride out of there, at least through April. ITA is useful for such digging, use /alliance oneworld for the delimiter and specify a handful of destinations in the region.

If you review the thread you will see (as also pointed at by johnax) that the only Oneworld carrier to KRT is RJ. You can also use the timetable and where we fly map at www.oneworld.com to search for OW flights (be aware that codeshares that might not be available for an xonex may show).

Isn't New Zealand still substantially cheaper than an Oz start? I know not as cheap as KRT, but considering your difficulty in getting there....

I've been very unimpressed with the downloadable OW timetable (Cathay's, which I used to depend on, also doesn't seem to be keeping up with OW membership).

This is in the context of a recent SA trip and had to do with LAN affiliates, but it made me think that some human puts these together at a point in time and periodically updates them, errors and all, with minimal effort.

I'd think the maps are even less accurate (or current), given that it takes even more effort to create/maintain them.

All this is based on limited experience, and the downloads are free and quick (and indeed ITA had some problems with what 'alliance oneworld' really means in South America).

Since RJ has not responded to my e-mails, I took some time when passing AMM, en route to BKK from LHR, to inquire with the RJ ticket office, whether a XONEX could be reserved an purchased in KRT:
1. In advance, and ticket picked up at the airport, doing a TWOV, returning on the same RJ metal, or if I needed to
2. Stay in Sudan for time of reservations and ticketing.

After talking through a middle-man for 20 min, I finally had the chance to talk to the director of sales, who was at the AMM office that day. He sort of toned down any difficulty I could imagine, but definitely did not look happy, when I mentioned TWOV, and hinted the possibility to encounter problems.

Staying in Sudan is the minor problem of alternative 2; paying is. For political reasons, Sudan does not accept any credit/debit card with connections to USA. An International Money Order, issued by a bank in Europe or Middle East would be the way, but clearence could take time...

Checking other alternatives, will report back...

Canadian exception?

I did a quick search on this thread for "Canad" and came up empty; sorry if I missed the obvious but isn't this a prime candidate for Canadian ticketing? Or is that no longer a 'thing'?

I bought my ex-KRT tickets using the Canadian exception last year. However, you still have to deal with TWOV or a visa to begin (and end) the ticket.

Thus no way to stay in transit and turn around with the inbound....(?)

I did not dare to try a turn-around on the same plane. I did a TWOV going DXB/KRT/AMM. For the return leg I'm currently planning on throwing away the last flight as I can't find any flights leaving within 6 hours of RJ510 that I could connect to (the only possibility being Saudi Airlines but that would mean a second TWOV through Saudi Arabia).

I've just made a booking (haven't proceeded to checkout as yet) using the Oneworld planner.

KRT-AMM-ATH-LHR-SAN-DFW-CUN-DFW-LAX-SYD-PER-ADL-MEL-SYD-BKK-AMM-KRT
priced out at just over USD12k for 2 pax

Is others experience that this price will alter when I put CC details in?

I booked ex NRT last year for a similar routing and paid what I would expect ex NRT, certainly not ex SYD (home port)

RJ have priced a ticket for me in Economy at approx AUD1200 SYD-BKK-AMM-KRT (QF to BKK then RJ onwards)

So approx AUD7500 ppax including taxes for DONE4 looks pretty good to me.

Problem seems to be ex KRT doesn't it? RJ has inbound arriving 90 mins or so before outbound, but TWOV hasn't been confirmed or denied here has it?

Seems to be the sticking point. My emails to SUndanese consulate in ID (nearest) have gone unanswered. Will try RJ office in Sydney tomorrow.

Cheers

Are you buying through a Canadian TA, emmell ?

Self beeing frustrated over lacking answers from e-mails and personal encounters, I got more frustrated today, reading travel advice for Sudan, considering CC obstacles, advice #1 was "Bring lots of cash". To pay for 2 DONE4 or 1 AONE4 one would need an armed guard as a travelling companion.:D

No but every time I tried booking it online it failed after entering the CC details, except once when I did it successfully while physically in Toronto.

Don't forget that arriving from and then immediately departing to the same destination is not TWOV. The cities must be different for a transit.

There are tools that let you specify where your browser says you are, e.g. TOR (open-source). That won't help when you have to enter the name and address on the c/c account, though.
