Lounge in Miami

The One World web site indicates the LAN lan at MIA is Club America in Concourse E (AA). Other than the AA AC lounge and AA FL lounge in Concourse E I've never seen any other lounge. Does this lounge really exists or would LAN paxs use AA AC/FL lounge.

Since I am connecting from JFK on an AA flight, it would appear that I would need to leave the lounge, go out and check in for my LAN flight, and then need to re-enter Security to get back to the lounge. Sounds like an annoying process. How far in advance can I check in for my LAN flight as I have about 4.5 hours connection time.

Why would you need to do that? You can ask at JFK to be checked in for your LAN flights. At the least, the agent should be able to check your bags as far as you'd like them checked and you can pick up your BPs at the lounge in MIA. AA and LA are in an alliance for a reason!

Yes Club America does exist and is a shared Lounge. There are two that I know of: one in F (before the escalators going down) which was formerly a RCC. The one in E is off a corridor past security similar to where the FL Lounge is at. If memory serves me correctly it is opposite to the FL. I was only at this Club once and its small and crowded. So if you have access to the AC or FL those are probably better.

good luck..

The MIA website shows Lan departures out of Terminal J (South.) It also shows a Club America lounge on the 4th floor of Terminal J. I thought Lan used H, but the two are adjacent so maybe they've moved.

I wouldn't expect great things from the Club America lounges; "okay" is about it.

LAN currently departs from J, which is the new south terminal. There is Club America prior to security in F, and one airside in J. You can also use the Admiral's Clubs in D and E. Since you will be arriving on AA, you would only need to clear the J security (which you would have to do anyway).

If you are EXP and traveling in J, you should be able to use the Flagship lounge in E.

According to aa.com, there is no Flagship Lounge in MIA. Is the website wrong, or did the lounge close?

It closed about a month ago and won't reopen until mid 2011.

The Flagship Lounge actually closed permanently in MIA. I was there on the last day

They told me that the lounge would be built in another location later on, but had no information when or where exactly... The agent joked and said "the check is in the mail." and indicated the new lounge might be delayed... I think in the interim, they should allow those with access coupons for top shelf labels, and a free meal in the regular lounges (that is my hope not reality)

It is currently under construction in Concourse D, near gate D30, and will open in late spring.

Hi

I have a quick question about lounges at MIA. My fiancee will be flying MIA-LHR on BA, and for reasons outside her control, will have to arrive at MIA several hours before her flight. She doesn't have status, so I was thinking of getting her paid lounge access. I know there is a Club America at the F terminal that BA leaves from. Is it any good? And if not, can she go to a club in another terminal (e.g. the AA in terminal D) and then get to terminal F without having to go through security again?

I don't know about Club America. There are 2 Admirals Clubs in D, which would allow paid access for, I think, $50. You cannot get from D to F without exiting and going through security again. I am not sure what the procedure is for getting into D with a boarding pass for a flight leaving from F - it may not even be possible.

This is a bit late for newyourgeorge's use, but LAN now uses the DL SkyClub in MIA which, from what I hear, is okay and not much more or less. For non-status or J travel, $50 day pass. The Domestic AC's are available if you're connecting on an AA flight, but they're in D/E and you need to have time to get to terminals H/J and pass security - they are not linked airside. Security can be difficult if you're not leaving from terminals D/E and try to access them, but I've heard it's possible.

AFAIK, MIA no longer uses Concourse E - airlines remaining in E are Aeromexico, Alaska, Cayman and WestJet. The two operating Admirals clubs are both in the D Concourse: the first is near Gate D30, the second near Gate D15.

Generally speaking, the "finger" design of the Concourses doesn't permit for airside movement between the different Concourses (an exception is the airside walkway between D and E, a leftover from the recent past when AA used).
