Changing my DONE4
Hi All,
Its been a while since I did all my research on these forums and booked my first DONE4, so I'm a little confused at some recent events.
I've completed about half my trip, and need to make some changes to my remaining flights. I contacted LAN who issued my ticket, and they said I need to go into an office to change it as I cant do it over the phone. I explained I'm in Brisbane Australia and the LAN office is in either Perth or Brisbane, however had no luck and according to the person they couldn't help me. I rang back again and this time the person on the phone was prepared to change it, however said it was going to cost me money and she would work out a price and let me know.
I was under the impression that as I was only changing dates of flights, that it wouldn't incur a cost? I'm not changing any destination or anything too complicated... I didnt think it would result in a reissue of the ticket.
Was my initial understanding wrong about changing dates, and that it would be free?
Thanks guys
Hayden

Code:
16 Voluntary Changes... (a) Rebooking/Rerouting (2) After Departure (a) Date/time/oneworld carrier/inventory changes are permitted provided ticketed points remain the same. (b) Changes other than to Date/time/oneworld carrier/inventory permitted at a charge of USD125.00 per transaction. ...
Also "Local service fees may apply on rebooking, rerouting, reissue or refund". These are in addition to the (possible) USD125 fee. I know QF charges a local fee - I had to pay AUD60 merely to change dates on the last few segments of my LONE4. I don't know if LAN charges a fee.

The relevant rule states:
You say you are "only changing dates of flights...not changing any destination or anything too complicated". However be aware that merely changing a transit to a stopover does count as a re-route and so IIRC incurs the USD125 fee and a recomputation of relevant taxes.

In that case, the only charge you could possibly be up for is the local service fee (if any)
I suggest you have the rules to hand, and ring back
(Just a small warning - you are subject to the rules as they were when you purchased the ticket not as they are now; the rules have had a number of changes over the last year or so - but I'm pretty sure the rules regarding changes have not been altered.)
