Japan Airlines Corp., formally asked retirees to accept a reduction in pensions as it battles to avoid collapse. The company will seek an agreement by Jan. 12, Japan Air President Haruka Nishimatsu told reporters today in Tokyo. The airline will also seek a cut in future pension payments for current employees, Nishimatsu said (Bloomberg)

British Airways Plc canceled all European and U.K. domestic flights from Heathrow after 7 p.m. in London yesterday and said in a statement on its Web site that flights are significantly disrupted, with several cancellations at London Gatwick and London City airports following their earlier closure. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flight before leaving for the airport, the airline said. (Bloomberg)
