Arrived this morning in Paris from DTW. Have a fairly long layover so thought I'd go to the Air France lounge to relax as I do have a world clubs membership. No luck with that. Apparently can only use the lounge if travelling to the USA or if one is a platinum and you must have your card. Luckily I am and I did have the card. But I haven't experienced this ever in Amsterdam (my usual transfer point). I just show my world clubs card, boarding pass and in I go.

In AMS access to KL lounge is on the same basis as access to WC in the US.

The access guidelines to AF lounges in CDG are clear:
"WorldClubs members must present a same-day ticket or boarding pass for an international flight operated by a SkyTeam airline. Guests are not permitted at this location."
In addition, WPPlats or WBC benefits give you access when traveling on an international itinerary, much in the way you get those in the US.

As to the "travelling to the USA" part, I can actually confirm this is the restrictive interpretation. I was granted access to AF 2E lounge (in the new extension) traveling from CDG to EVN, as this was considered an international itinerary. BTW, the lounge in the extension is actually nicer than the one in the main 2E terminal, if only because the extension has a massage table.

Good luck. The lounge dragons at the AF lounge are real piece of work. We each had 3 valid credentials for entry (Platinum, WC membership, international business class itinerary) and we were still losing the argument with four lounge dragons. Finally, I insisted on speaking with a supervisor, and the supervisor let us in.

Friends don't let friends connect in CDG.

At CDG, my colleague could not get in to the AF lounge as an FB Silver. I had access as a PE on an Int'l itinerary going to DUS (as expected). What was not expected was the lounge gal guesting my colleague in with me.

SkyTeam ElitePlus -- which is what NW Platinum status grants too -- entitles the person to access the business lounges operated by any SkyTeam airline upon presentation of same-day international SkyTeam travel boarding pass and validation of SkyTeam ElitePlus credentials; along with that ElitePlus privilege, the ElitePlus member is entitled to bring in one guest too. Class of service is generally not relevant for ElitePlus lounge access (since there are so few SkyTeam first class lounges).

Transiting CDG for the first time last weekend, I was ready for a connfrontation with the lounge dragons. Much to my suprise, all the agent did was note the ST Eliteplus on my boarding pass and let me in.

The 2E lounge at CDG is now one of my favorites. I'm not a wine drinker, but just had to sample most of the selections. Also, there are no shower dragons either - just go in and use it if it's open and has been cleaned.

Ah, I thought the "no guest" rule at AF lounges trumped the Elite Plus guest rule, but I see now that the rule only applies to entrance to AF lounges with a WC card. With a WC card, no guests.

Regarding Elite Plus, can I enter with my family, or does the one-guest rule apply to families?

Transiting CDG tomorrow. Can anyone tell me whether they've been allowed to use the arrivals lounge at T2C? We've got a 2.5 hour layover, before departing for MAD on AF, after arriving on NW from DTW.

You and a guest should have access based on this link. Specifically:
For clarity's sake, there should have been an "or" after each of the first two bullet points, IMO. You don't have to satisfy all three conditions for entrance.

you have to seperate WC membership from ST E+. WC membership only works @ contracted lounges (not all AF lounges qualify) and WC rules apply (as for AF lounges, usually no guest). If you are ST E+ travelling international you and 1 guest (no familiy as per rule, but infants or small children are usually o.k. even for AF) have access to all ST lounges and this includes the AF arrivals lounge in Paris 2C.

This has actually been covered in dozens of threads ... maybe there should be a master thread on international lounges and varying access rules based in airlines/status/memberships.
