Award Travel to Africa...System doesn't work

Trying for over a month, Award travel website to Africa just does not work. It just shows "search in progress" for hours even though I know that both KLM and NW coded itinerary exist. If award space doesn't exist the website should say so, not just spin for hours "in progress." Of course the award calendar didn't pop up either. I had to call the Elite desk to get the award availability and learn how many miles to redeem.

The award site worked perfectely when I tested it for NW domestic itineraries but nothing that required KLM metal, even just to Europe.

I want to make a multicity trip DTW to VAR in September. NWA.com finds a route DTW/AMS/SOF/VAR and return with the AMS/SOF/VAR on Bulgaria Airlines. When I try a multicity trip with a stopover in AMS the website gives the amazing message: "No Northwest Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, or codeshare partner flights were found between Detroit Wayne County Metropolitan Airport, MI (DTW) and Amsterdam, Netherlands (AMS). "
Any ideas? Does this have to be booked by phone?

Try booking with Orbitz. Sometimes Orbitz is more forgiving on "complicated" itineraries than nwa.com even though they use the same booking engine.

If Orbitz gives you what you want, it's well worth the extra $5 ticketing fee compared to the phone fee NW will charge you. Although admittedly, NW can use all the phone booking fees they can get right now... ;)

Unable to book making a RT using lowest price & Schedule

I don't know if this a Safari problem. I have had no problems in the morning or early afternoon... even before June 18, 2007. I believe the problem is the 'Lowest Price & Schedule' feature.

Note: I have tried both as a guest and login as a WP member.

When I am planinng a trip starting on the mainpage.

Airfare Search: I click ROUNDTRIP button, and click on LOWEST PRICE & SCHEDULE button. Sectect FROM (MSP) To (DCA) and pick Departing date example 'July 20' and Return date July 25. (Year 2007). I have tried different days and months.

I looked over everything. Click on 'SEARCH' button.

I get the...

FLIGHT SEARCH page where it states,

Please note : All fields marked with an asterisk(*) are required.
[/COLOR]We're sorry, there was a problem processing this search request.

Please try again.

The words: From, To, Depart, Return are mark with the (*).

Example:
*From: MSP
*To: DCA
*Depart: 07/20/07
*Retuen: 07/25/07

I look over it...again etc. and click the 'search'. I get the same responds as mention in red.

At the bottom of the page of 'Flight Search', the red buttons 'Search by Price' -or- 'Search by Schedule' -or- 'Search by Price/Schedule'

There is no problem with the first two Search buttons, however when I click on 'Search by Price/Schedule'. I send back to the Flight Search page with the responds mention above in red.

I don't know what I am doing wrong. This has been a VERY basic and general booking search. I have tried different city pairs, plus different dates.

BondAir007 - I believe this is a temporary problem with nwa.com and their back-end search engine (which is not hosted by NWA).

I, too, am having problems using the search by Lowest Price/Schedule feature with any routing I enter. I'm using IE7 FYI.

I'd imagine this problem will be fixed shortly.

I was wondering if anybody else was having the problem. Good to know I wasn't the only one having the same problem. :)

I may be mistaken, but I think there's this small bug on web site and so thought I'd post it to see if others have thoughts on this one:

Am overseas right now (AMS) and I logged into my NWA acct from here at NWA.com. It wants to select July 21 for the day, because that's what day it is over here--at just past 2am, and as I type this post in FT, it is around 8pm EST/USA on the 20th only.

BUT when you go to log in with that date auto-filled in by their own system, it tells me to select a new date range. I know I could easily do this and set it to July 19 or something, which is what I did with ease and success, but maybe they ought to add in some a quick default thingy into the software so people who travel elsewhere in the world have no need to retype their info when trying to log in.

MAYBE this is an issue with my PC too. I have no idea but thought I would at least ask about it in case I'm right about the NWA site.

thoughts welcome, thanks.

What do you mean by logging in with that date auto-filled in by their own system?

If you're trying to log into your WorldPerks account (on the upper-right side of the page under the "My NWA Info" header), that is completely date independent, as is the "Manage My Reservations" panel just below it.

Please clarify for me.

actually I was able to reproduce the situation in which this would occur (although right now as I type, we are on the same day). I had made a mistake in my entries... On the NWA.com site, when you go to check your mileage balance, you can enter your WP number, then last name and then pin. I must have left out a number or letter (or maybe, as is the case with some PCs and mouses, the cursor moved or something when I was entering it correctly and since I did not see that, when I hit ENTER, it caught my error)

What happens when you enter incorrectly, is that you get another chance on a page with some red lettering that could say something like:

The last name you entered does not match the last name for this account number. Please re-enter the last name

on this page, they give you a date range. (try it and you may see this too, and there you can change the dates and see your account going back for a year or so) I had reentered my information, double checking everything, and it came up red lettering me once again. This time the date was wrong, or so it said. It was at this point I realized that I was 6hrs ahead at the time of day where I would be on a day after all of the USA. I may try to reproduce this late night tonight, but that depends if I am awake again. I was this time because our 1 year old is not feeling so well. Surprisingly, she experienced less in the world of jet lag, and is just suffering a mild cold. Even as she went back to sleep, I was now up for a while and that's when I came in here to check my miles.

I wonder if I should copy paste some of the other issues I talked about in the other thread where we both met. Seems redundant though, and I dunno if anything will get done about them anyway. Besides, I am also not sure if some in THIS thread will tell me my concerns are somehow not appropriate for the thread or if repeating my words from the "NW participation" thread will constitute cross posting. But just so everyone knows, most of what I have written to TTU has come up with not even any direct response to any issue I have ever had with the airline or the web site so I have no idea if they do anything about anyone's issues--even the real big ones. And as you know, most of my issues have to do with mileage concerns and posting consistency.

oh well.

Cannot get mileage credit

Was on a BRU-AMS-BOS trip in early June on a NWA '012' ticket. Have not received the BRU-AMS (operated by KLM city hopper) mileage as yet. Have used the NWA.com interface to submit the mileage credit request multiple times. More than 10 days have passed multiple times - neither has there been any response nor any credit.

Tried calling them - experience the same as is being discussed in another thread - get a message that everybody is busy and then they hang-up.

Tried to fax to a number which I have from the SE card when I was SE a few years ago - seems it has changed as it is always busy.

Found another number on using google - only the last digit from the number I had was different - the fax went thru - but no credit as yet.

The only thing left now is to mail then the boarding pass - but never have had to do this in the past for 012 tickets.

Any suggestions ?

I am on hold right now with nwa.com trying to sort this problem out.
I went through the booking process and got to the purchase page. It showed Msp-Tpa flights, using miles to upgrade, at $350.80 and 30,000 miles. I pressed select and the trip confirmation page came up but they charged me $1107.80 and 20,000 miles. They also dropped my miles available from
199,xxx down to 1747. What gives????

Welcome to FT!!

um, well I would suggest asking the airline again and submitting my information in writing rather than by email or on their site. I would send copies and ask for a prompt reply. Then, if you have waited a long time even still, I personally would call the airline and write again, taking names and information as thoroughly as possible,

Now, if you want my sarcastic answer, I suggest asking these FT posters I have listed below, because they seem to claim that their way is the best way, and they seem to have very clear and concise information on the exact steps to take to get your miles quickly. A note, however, you are not supposed to ask about it too many times or, from what I have heard one of them say, the airline may kick you out of their list:

I finally received the credit. Till now I had been submitting via the mileage credit request form on the web. But now I did this via TTU. I dont know if that did the trick, or the fax I sent a few days back did it.

The new icons on the seat map are not effective. The colors don't contrast enough to easily tell the difference between the coach choice and regular open seats. And I would think it would be impossible if you were even slightly color-blind.

I just went to check on switching seats for an upcoming flight and thought a whole bunch of seats had just opened up. Only after clicking unsuccessfully on the seats did I figure out they were coach choice.

This is more annoying than anything else, but when I login on nwa.com I always have to click on the name box for the cursor to appear. Shouldn't the cursor appear automatically when the page finishes loading?
